New BMW 330Ci Cabrio or Z4?

reisa,

firstly, mum's always right. if she wants a cabrio, cabrio it is.

next, i think that part of the joy of driving and being seen in a roadster is knowing that u're paying for it. save up and buy the Z4 yourself if u like it so much, u'll enjoy and cherish the car much more that way, which in my opinion, is the only way a special car like the Z ought to be treated. :inlove:

louis,

Did you know I hug my Gomaki every night before I sleep?

reisa,

Get the Z4 only if you can live with a two seater. Since you have other cars in the stable, the Z4 shouldn't be that hard to live with right?
The shape of the Z4 won't be changing for the next 5-6 years. At least the Z3 hung around for 8 years. If you get the 330ci, it will look dated once the new 3 hits the streets, which is soon. Also, the Z4 looks different from other cars on the street. Especially the long bonnet. A 3 series, whether coupe, cabrio, sedan or M3 will always be just another 3 series; another conventional car. In the Z4, people always take a second look at the car.
Having said that, the Z4 can be troublesome sometimes. Like if i need to ferry more people, I'll have to go home to change cars. Can't do bulky shopping too. Although my mom did suggest that I go buy bamboo poles for laundry because I can drop the top and place the poles in the passenger area. 8) We can't decide for you so you will have to make the choice based on your lifestyle. I'm fine with a 2 seater as an everyday car because I drive in a "spirited" manner all the time and don't have many people to fetch. It's also a good excuse when it comes to not sending people home. "Sorry, 1 pax only". :wavey:

Harlow... insult 3 series again! :furious:

Reisa, must correct my good friend tanzy. Agree Z4 is a better handling car. But disagree in that 3 series (E46) will look outdated once the E90 (new 3 series) is launched. To me, the e46 is timeless. It will never look out of place among the new guns. Look at the e39? (old 5 series) I think a well done up e39 doesnt look dated at all next to a new 5 (E60).

Well, I actually have friends telling me a cabrio looks that much more posh and sleek than a Z4, which some people say looks like a "toy" .... (Dont kill me tanzy!!! kekeke)

And, z4 gives you butt ache... But in all fairness, the z4 is still an excellent car but for practicality and comfort, its the cabrio anytime..

Cheers!

whoa... type R.. I like!

Hey bro,

You working and studying at the same time right? Heard you got car polish business. Wow... can buy z4 from it! Introduce me leh!!! Then maybe i can stop doing night calls loh....

Frankly speaking IMHO, all of us have our individual preferences. Tanzy might say the Z4 is a good car for track, SM might prefer the E46 Cab for cruising. But I choose the E46 Coupe, why? I can track the bugger and yet cruise with it, yet feeling just as good as Tanzy in his Z4 and SM in his Cab!

Seriously I would strongly discourage you if you were going to place your decision to buy a car based on what other people like. You may gather information and do some analysis based on paper facts though. But bottom line is, "To feel good" about the car
