Yes. It's costly, heavy and uncomfortable

2. Can the car take normal tyres instead of RFTs?

Yes. Cheaper, lighter and more comfortable. For peace of mind, just get a tire repair kit that costs < $200 and keep in the car. If puncture in Singapore, can call tow service anytime.

Heard that the 523i uses run flat tyres and does not come with a spare. Two questions for all you bmw gurus:
1. Are these costly to replace?
2. Can the car take normal tyres instead of RFTs?

2. Can the car take normal tyres instead of RFTs? >> Can. I will be replacing my RE050 RFT with normal PS3 soon

not a guru...should be no problems changing to non-RFTs.

Well, just got myself a new 523i. Hope to learn more about BMW motoring from you fellow enthusiasts. I have read many comments that the omv for this car is way too low. I agree. Mine is about $37k only. I bought the car not because i want to be one of the first to drive it. I just got hooked after i test drove the car. hmmm.... what to do? Anyway, heard that the resale value for a bmw is pretty good and that omv should not be much of a factor. Don't know how this argument works but hopefully there's some truth to it. Again, glad to join this community.

We are in the same shoes. I am shocked to learn that the basic car cost is almost the same as my wife's Lexus IS250. I mean did Singapore Customs make a mistake?

Anyway, I will be collecting my F10 very soon. Havanna with cinnamon brown. Will just enjoy the ride!

37k OMV for a 523i that costs 215k??? High price to enjoy the car man. But its nice indeed.

Reality check: Honda Accord 2.4. OMV 34.1k and Kah Motor price is 130k.

Anyway, I will be collecting my F10 very soon. Havanna with cinnamon brown. Will just enjoy the ride!

I booked my car early this week but will have to probably wait till next week's coe before I hear from the agent again. If, for any reason, the coe goes down, I'll probably end up with low omv and low coe!. Well, like what everyone is saying, don't worry to much and just enjoy your ride!

haven't you guys considered that you can also "enjoy your ride" with a 168k golf R that comes with 38k omv? (just plucked a car with the nearest omv i can think of...)

My good friend just bought a merc, a newly launched model as well. Paid close to 240k, omv 58k, coe 49k. Hmmm... merc omv didn't go down because of the euro?? maybe c&c buys in USD instead of EURO. damn stupid man! PML smarter!

The OMV is so low.. One of reason why people buy a european car is because of its high OMV. This reason seems to be not valid anymore.

The F10 is really over price. Well, willing buyer seems to be plenty in Singapore

Wat to do ? The F10 is a really very desirable car ,that's why everyone is willing to pay sgd220k++ for it.

When the car has no desirable effect, even dropping price down to good value (eg the OMV of the Toyota Camry Hybrid is sgd42k+ but selling only at Sgd140k+ ) still wont sell like hotcakes : (
