NEW but FLUSTERED

Hi All,

My name is Spurs Goh (as u can tell I happen to be a long-suffering Spurs fan). I wish I could say something friendly for my first posting but I am really flustered, after purchasing my new 523i end-June. Let me relate my experience:
Within a week of driving, two warning indicators lit up and considerably affecetd by steering (I can't even make a U-turn at some narrow bends). I called up the Kampung Arang workshop and was told that the sensor was faulty and that I should send the car down for repair. I took half a day leave and turned up on July 10 at 2 pm. I was told by a CSA to turn up again on Wed at 8.30 am. His reason was that he needed to do a thorough check which could take a full day.
I took a day's leave on July 12 and arrived promptly at 8.30 am and left after handing over my car. . By 10.30 am, I received a message that my car was 'Ready for Collection". I took a cab happily down to the workshop and was told that the sensor was faulty (DON'T WE ALL KNOW THAT THE FIRST TIME!!) and that there was no available stock. I was told to come back another day (no indication when). The CSA told me that a few other new BMW had the same problem and that the sensors had all been used up and that they needed to order more.
On thinking back, I can't believe that BMW has such a reputation for new vehicles, and wose, such terrible workshop service. The CSA always appeared to be busy and seemed irritated by my frustration (although he remained quietly polite.) If he had known that this was a standard problem, why not tell me so at my first visit. And why such a misleading SMS???
My BMW friends, don't we deserve any compensation except for some cheap taxi vouchers. I told the CSA that since the problem was entirely theirs, could I have a separate car to drive (I don't mind an old one) since I felt the car was not safe for driving, especially on sharp bends.
Or they could get someone to collect my car instead of making me do so myself....for the THIRD trip. The answer: you guess it, we don't provide such service.
Sorry to take up your time, everyone!

Re: NEW but FLUSTERED

may be you can try another service centre? my last trip to sime darby was quite okay. they even send the car to you but u have to pay the taxi fare for the CS to go back. save you one trip.

Re: NEW but FLUSTERED

to be fair when I was at Kp Arang once, I did see that quite a few BMW owners were quite rude to the CSA, of cos I dont know the stories behind but really the CSAs are under stress. On one hand PML reminds them to be polite but then some owners really think they were like king.

Most of us here like our BMWs, but had our fair share of bad experience with some, not all, PML staffs and some of their policies.
Anyway on yr problem. the thing abt PML is this: never never go down w/o an appt. Unless u are in dire situation. Sending the car to another PML workshop[hopefully the CSA ther is more experienced] is one thing, but if I were you I would escalate to the managers there and demand proper compensation. If they cannot offer anything proper I will not waste time and go straight to someone in BMW asia on the phone, and by then I will be really inpolite "I bot a new BMW, its faulty and I received crap service by PML...tell me what shld I do as a BMW customer. Throw the damn ball at them"

Dont worry I will send some Hia-dee to throw kerosene bombs at Kg Arang centre and burn their building to ashes.

the last time my car had a misfire, i sent it down to Kampung Arang, i actually got a taxi voucher , which i thought was a very nice gesture. Honestly when Anwar was still around, i had no problems bringing in my car the way it was. i'd tell him the problem and he'd settle it. I also told him to follow up on my car with me every 1 hour and he did!!.. wahaha..

Sometimes it's not abt the company itself but mainly on a few bad apples,

Re: NEW but FLUSTERED

Thanks Beng,

I did check for my appointment. Before I made the first trip down on Monday, I purposely called up to ask if I should go to Kampung Arang and the CSA said yes, it was not so packed and I could come down immediately. When I arrived, the receptionist made me wait for almost an hour before i was attended to by the CSA. He took all of 3 minutes to assess the problem and gave me another appointment to come down on Wednesday.

And not only was I NOT rude to the CSA, I felt that I had to be nice and timid to him in order to get his attention (you know, like the way you feel when you go see a medical specialist)...it was almost like I was intruding into his time as he was so busy. By the way, he did not attend to me...i had to make my way to his desk to seek his attention! He was like, "Now what?" "Can't you wait for your name to be called?" He certainly didn't utter these comments but I certainly won't be voting him for the Employee of the Month.

hi, may i know when you sent your car for repair and received the taxi voucher?....i was told this is no longer their policy....was told around march this yr. abit misleading if all of us starting going there to ask for taxi voucher...made worse if ppl start naming this forum as source of info...

with all the promotions/discount/benefits pml is giving upfront...am sure they will have to remove other benefits from back end....

Re: NEW but FLUSTERED

Ha - you think being a Spurs fan is long suffering, at least you won something. Me, I am Birmingham City fan and I get 4 lousy seasons in the Premier League and we have won nothing of importance in 125 years - this from the second city in UK after London. That is long suffering.

My E60 also got active steering sensor problem after just 3 days of driving. Go down to Sime Darby at 3.30pm, told no time and no equipment to do. They said go to Alexandra Road. I asked got time to go today, they said "Can".

I go to Alexandra Rd, they say, no time. Need one full day. So must drive all weekend with damn noise coming on with warning message.

Also attended by CSA called Andrew - terrible I tell you. So next time, I asked for more senior guy - much better this time.
