New Engines for the E90!

Hi everyone!

Was in Borders yesterday and flipping through the latest edition of BMWCar Magazine. ( I flipped through a couple of magazines but am pretty sure its this one ).

Anyway, there was a short article in there mentioning that the entire range of E90s would be getting new engines that will be coming with more horsepower and better fuel economy across the board as compared to the current range of engines. And they are due to be launched in September ( same time as the E90 facelift )

So yup, I think while most of us have heard rumours of the new engines coming,( and most SE's claiming that they have no idea about it ), this is the first time I've actually seen it actually being mentioned in a magazine. As for when they would reach our shores, or if it'll affect the pricing of the E90s is another guess altogether...

US or UK BMW Magazines? US specs E90 already have different engine configurations since day one.

Hmmm.. honestly cant remember. But it did mention that it'll be new engines across the board...even the diesel models..

BMWCAR is a UK magazine.

The Direct Injection Engine will find it's way into the 3series range from Sept 07 Production.

However I don't think the mag mentioned about facelift. The E90 facelift is scheduled next year.

Sadly, I don't think we'll be getting any of the direct injection engines here. Apparently BMW isn't satisfied with our fuel quality.

I though the LCI 523i and 530i are using direct injection engines already?

No, the ones we have here don't have the DI heads.

No wonder my LCI logcard says N52 engine while the www says N53 engines! I begin to wonder if the LCI 523i actually has 190HP now since it doesnt come with DI.

Saw this from the e90 forum. Pretty glad i decided to wait. More Power and Better consumption. Just hope px don't up too much!

Starting with september production, the new powers are;

For europe, E90

318i 129 hp to 143 hp
320i 150 to 170 hp
330i 258 to 272 hp

Also all the new models will have better fuel consumptions;

Numbers are in liters

City/Highway/Average

320i old; 10.7/5.6/7.4 new; 8.4/4.8/6.1

330i old; 12.7/6.4/8.7 new; 9.9/5.6/7.2

318i old; 10/5.7/7.3 new; 7.9/4.8/5.9

325i old; 12.1/6.2/8.4 new; 9.8/5.5/7.1

335i old; 14.4/6.8/9.6 new; 13.2/6.7/9.1

by the way, i was at Taka few hour ago. Saw the C class parked at B3..wah...sibay swee and muscular!!

now my already weakened will is shaken again and i dun know whether it's the 3 or the C tat i want, AGAIN.

good thing for the 3 is that it's cheaper and there's a higher HP and better consumption one coming along soon.

My dad test drove the C . He also say its damn nice and the ride is supurb.. kept going on and on and on about it. Until my mum tell him that he cannot buy as he just changed car recently.

HAHAHAHA....

Btw, I saw a black 323i with the Breyton bodykit near Balestair earlier this afternooon.. OMG.. it looked soooooooo good with the bodykit!!!
