I'm about to join your club. Financing approved and waiting for the a new spray job.
Has anyone purchased warranty from ComfortDelGro or KAR engineering?
The car is around 5 yrs old and I'm looking at purchasing warranty for the life of the car.
Has anyone had any experience with them?
thanks
Philster
Since it is 5 yrs old, be prepare up to $2k to change out for parts for cooling, ATF/Differential oil & etc. If petrol filter is replaced, it advisable to replace fuel pump together as it will uplorry around 5 yrs.Philster;587054 said:Hi all E60 owners

As precaution, it is advisable to replace alternator as well because once alternator uplorry, battery will also uplorry. Once both uplorry, dashboard will look like Christmas tree lite & need a tow truck.
Depending on mileage of the car, 4 shock has to go. Since changing out 4 shocks, might as well change tension strut & wishbone.
I am not scaring you. This is based on my experience getting 5 yr old E39.
It is about there. I hav learn my lesson on what to look out for in my next ride. Anyway, irregardless whether it's pre-owned or not, it is those stuff that need to be replaced around 5 yrs mark.Jason8822;587088 said:bro,
from what you mention, seems like total figure getting close to $10k
earlier on my E60 starter was a bit slow to crank up so i changed battery.
after change battery, starter still slow, i think starter on it way up the lorry liao right?

Because of alternator & fuel pump uplorry (on 2 separate occasion), i need tow truck.
Last thing to rem is keep a few radiator bleeding screw for spare. It come in handy if travel to Msia often.
For me, d screw hat broke off & have to use glue & tape to hold it. It happens in Msia somemore.Jason8822;587109 said:can't really say 5 yr la, mileage is also another factor.
my car do 100k km in 3 yrs while some do less than 100k km even till coe expires .. lol
rad bleeding screw can try to use back or not?
saw some workshop putting teflon tape and screw them back.

Irregardless whether got warranty or not, if don't change all the necessary parts, downtime still the same. In addition, warranty only replace what is spoil. Whereby our car needs TLC. So, it's ur decision.highbury;587255 said:Hi Philster,
Welcome.
I just got my E60 about a month back and also had a new spray job as well. It is about 4.5yrs
Like you I'm also considering whether it is worthwhile to invest in a warranty. Having read what the others have experienced, perhaps it may make some sense to do it.
