So is the purpose of Foreign talent Sports Scheme purely to win medals? If that is so, that I must say KPI achieve. But is that what we want? I remembered there was alot of talk about the benefits of how it will raise the standard of the games/sports? Get more people to actively participate and play the sports? Build the right sports culture and get more public sports awareness...etc..etc. Maybe goal post shifted since winning medals easy to measure.

Until the govt starts to pump in some serious money to set up dedicated sports academies for sports which we are good in, FT in sports will always be imported. This is the lazy fact.

Put yourself in MIW's shoes. Take out millions of dollars to set up academy facilities and hire expensive world class coaches? Or just spend abit of money to entice teenage PRC sportsmen who are 4th-tier back in China to come over to sg? Obviously being a miser, the govt will take the 2nd option. Bottomline is the local sports talent will never stand a chance or be groomed unless parents are rich enough to send them abroad to carve a professional sports career. Zero financial support from own country.

Also accepting medal-winning FTs -convert- Sporeans will sing the MIW's tune of importing FT even louder. Now they will brag that FT scheme is bearing fruits blah blah blah. Guys, there is no turning back. We are in this FT fiasco debacle whatever you call it.. too deep. Either it back-fires or succeeds (permanent results will be visible in 10 to 20 years time), the born-bred pink IC holders will always be the biggest losers (apart from some lucky ones who actually profit from these... ahem.. MIW and their grassroot members themselves). By then the Lees are long gone, dynasty or not, it doesn't matter. We got to live with their actions done some 20 years ago. That is 2032. Still got time to get out...

The day is already here...many table-tennis players playing for many countries originates from PRC..

I think we should import a huge team of Brazilians. Next World Cup sure win. Does not matter if they could sing Mari Kita or not.

we have some local teens going thru the go-kart circles now with strong family support and managed to get into some programme with F1 teams, hopefully they make it.

keke....but anyway...

Lets be fair to Feng Tian Wei and to her love ones, they have made sacrifices worthy of any Olympian. till the day we Singaporeans have the courage and conviction to support our children thru training regimes like the ones Feng and other athletes have, we should not be under any illusion that we have the right to criticize them.
