Hi

as above

intend to send for AA check before closing deal

would like to ask if some of the wear and tear parts are due for change/replace since car is past 5 yrs

Re: Newbie need help for new purchase e90 323i

hoses n mounts changes are the norms.
anyway AA check is for show, best is to send to our site sponsor workshops such as BVO, J4C etc where they are seasoned with bmw and knows what to look out for

If mileage past 100k km, be prepare to pay at least $2k. Alternator, fuel pump, water pump, water hose, shocks & etc.

Re: Newbie need help for new purchase e90 323i

Not forgetting aircon compressor, battery, gearbox problems, brake pads, brake rotors...alot of money

Re: Newbie need help for new purchase e90 323i

hi xefera,
I just got myself a used e90 LCI 323i as well, it's a 09 model. The mileage was 42000km with PML warranty, so far I needed to change the brake pads and brake rotors as the on board computer prompted but I didnt go back to PML as the price was crazy, as for the other stuff, they look to be in pretty good condition. You may want to share more details regarding your ride like what year and mileage so that people in the forum can share their experience on what they have to change during that period..... I paid about +-$1K for the brake pads, rotors and sensor ( all original BMW) and it was done within a few hours.

The general rule is change front brake pad twice, then change rear brake pad.

No need to change rotor if it is still within the tolerance thickness or surface still flat.

i have to agree, the previous guy probably changed the brake pad twice and didn't change the rotors, at 40K, it was about 40% difference in width compared to the new one( the rotor). As for the pads, it was so worn that it was grinding away at the sensor already...
