The Workers’ Party wishes to inform the public that at the monthly meeting of the Executive Council on Tuesday, 7 February 2012, the Council accepted the resignation of Yaw Shin Leong from the party leadership. Yaw Shin Leong will cease to be Treasurer of the Party with immediate effect.

The Council has also decided to appoint the Deputy Treasurer, Yee Jenn Jong, as the Party’s Treasurer.

Yaw Shin Leong will focus on his responsibilities as Member of Parliament for Hougang.

The Workers’ Party assures residents of Hougang of the Party’s commitment to the constituency and to supporting the work of their Member of Parliament.

If this was a PAP MP, everyone will demand Yaw step down as MP n hold a by-election but because this is an opposition MP, everyone will say we should differentiate professional life from personal life...

Actually, this leaves a distinctly fishy taste in my mouth, and it isn't from the abalone. For all the high standards and transparency and first world governance it was trying to sell, the WP (through the way it handled this particular episode) came across as trying to cling on to power - ie caring for itself more, than it cares for the very principles it was purportedly championing.

Doesn't matter white cat or black cat, Comrade Deng once said. I guess it doesn't matter whether it's the lightning or the hammer - they are all in it for themselves first, and if their by-products should actually benefit the very people that voted them in, then we should be so grateful and lucky.

Yaw Shin Leong could have been a real fucker for all we know. We, being the people making noise about his alleged affair. But he could have been screwing a goat for all I care. Does cheating on his wife make him any less of an MP? Yes, if being an MP meant Yaw had to set a monogomous example for his constituency. And definitely yes, if Yaw had been known to punish those guilty of sexual indiscretion.

(Or if that had been my goat.)

PAP attire = Pure white = symbol of pure (virgin for brides) Compulsary to wear chastity belt during meet the people session
WP attire = Light Blue shirt with Dark Blue Pants = Symbol of humility but cannot rule out flirting or having affairs but not in the void deck..

I have pinned and expected so much from the WP and they turn out to be a bunch of freaking idiots.

I voted in the Aljunied GRC and seriously and they have to do a lot and a lot of damage control if they wish to retain the loyalty of the constituents.

Just like my vote can swing to them, it can happen otherwise.... it's only a matter which is the lesser evil!

Bloody fool!! Doesn't he ever heard of never shit in your own backyard.... even my dog knows that!!!!!

i think if it's true, then WP should ask YSL to step down and have a by-election in Hougang.

If you want to be an MP then you have a moral obligation to the general public at large. PAP or opposition the same.

As long as his private life does not intrude into his public duty, why should we care?

MP/Country leader are mere mortal like u & me. Why do we need to impose such a moral hi ground for them? We are adults. Don't we know that it is not right to be MBA?

Regardless of what color uniform, as long as private life does not intrude into public life, i am fine with it.
