Wreck to remain 'until autumn'

The Courage tipped today at the port in Jersey City causing major damage to over 300 BMWs not including 70+ BMWs that were total losses.

A majority of the destroyed vehicles were M3s (mostly in dark blue) with a variety of 3ers and 1ers smashed up as well. A small number of the cars destroyed had German Tourist plates on them, those European delivery customers will NOT be getting their cars back.

If you were expecting your M3 or e90/92 in the next month, you're going to be in for a sad surprise.

Those cars that were a total loss will be crushed, I asked a BMW rep, he stated that they will not be auctioned as there is a liability for letting those cars on the road. The shipping company's insurance is footing the bill, I do not know how they will handle those cars that are already owned by the European Delivery customers.

Those cars with light damage will be repaired at the Elizabeth Receiving facility and sold through BMW's dealer network as new cars.

Damn!!! Alot of owners arent gonna be happy about it. Looks set to be a helluva big insurance claim on this one. Lets observe a minute of silence. :(
Good time to loot the M3 Side mirrors. LOL!

RIP... incidentally, two vessels named Tricolor (though not this one), both carrying BMWs, have gone underwater in recent years.

And BMW ///M, of course, has tri-colour stripes :(

Your condolences should be to its insurance companies! BMW AG would most probably put these cars in their book as SOLD already.:lol2:

Re: No Way For An E92 M3 To Die :(

Jersey City is in the state of New Jersey and across the Hudson River from New York City. It's one of the big East Coast ports -- so these cars would have been bound for North American customers. The fact that they mention European Delivery programme cars would seem to suggest this as well.

You'll be surprised how many new cars are damaged during shipping and transit. Just ask anyone who's worked in a port. The cars are literally parked door to door on the ships and I've heard that sometimes ship workers will walk across the hoods or bonnets to get to the other side of the ship's hold...

Not to mention the damage done by delivery drivers who think they're Schumacher... but that's another story.
