HI guys
It is extremely easy to tell which is real from Fake
Exterior
1 ) Windows trims.
Real M5 is black , most sg fake is chrome.
2 ) Exhuast
Real M5 have quad exhaust , most sg fake have only 02.
3 ) Fog light.
Real M5 factory made do not have front fog light.
Interior
1 ) SMG steering wheel
Real M5 have SMG steering with paddles shift , Sg fake do not have.
2 ) Speedometer. ( at night easy to spot )
Real M5 speedometer is white color , sg fake is still orange.
3 ) Gear shift.
Sg fake retains the stock non M5 gear shift.
4 ) comfort seats.
M5 have comfort seats , sg fake do not.

But do give those sg M5 wannabes some credit lah.
I think they spent quite a huge sums to mod the non M5 to M5 lookalike.
Estimate cost with the bodykit , M5 wing mirror and wheel is ard S$ 12K or more.
it is the same for lexus & toyota.
esp for the SUV like lexus RX300.
Please dun bomb me .......... just me personal opinion.

The best way is look inside the car cabin and see the M-power button. I think besides that almost anything can be disguised, steering wheel, gear lever and everything external. I saw a few 'M5' at Mike's place undergoing plastic surgery..hehehe.....the mods are so good u cant tell from outside.
Another way to check is of cos ask the dude driving it " Aaa Siao aaa, lee aa M5 see mm see kay aaa"

Well, once inside, there are many tell tale signs.... the M button on the steering wheel is not a good one..... cause I have a spare set of M steering buttons including the 'M' button..... By the way, I have a spare SPORTS steering wheel if anybody's interested....... to sell that is......
Also look at the gear knob and instrument dials...... besides that, once you sit in a M5, you will feel the leather is different from the standard M5.... and this is because it is Merino..... it nice... oh believe me, its N-I-C-E..........

saw this car today. male driver in late 30s early 40s i think.
looks GHETTO man.
i tailed him for a bit and stopped next to him at the lights to check him out. reg number is "SG_" series "88", hard top and merlot red exterior with beige interior with style 107 18" rims.
quads look fake. its the OEM exhaust on the left, but he welded new tips in. has a matching set of tips on the right.
he also removed the Z4 logo behind and replaced it with a ///M logo.
on the sides, he rearranged the "3.0i" to "i 3.0" then added the ///M logo on top of this.
again, GHETTO.

Not sure if its the M5 thing or what but i do see lotsa black 5series with quad exhaust these days. Saw one this morning along shenton way, badges removed....looks like a fakey!
