Oil Leak expeneice from 320i

Hi there,

anyone out there got experience on the oil leak issue...??? detected by the technical @ PML during the free check up. Bring the car to PML and then discovered that the components needs to be replaced. Needs two days to do replacement work, new component is 2 yrs warranty and cost about $1K++.

Anyone got experience ???! Please feel free to voice... :screwedu:

is this the oil sump leakage?....

normally oil gasket, valves only have 2 yrs warranty.

just go to workshop outside, u can get it fix up cheaper.

get them to do it for u as "goodwill". replacing all the gaskets will cost u at least 600-700 'outside'

If I change it @ other workshop , and not PML, will it void the warranty? :furious:

i did mine at j4c, not only oil leakage problem, they did a full check for my e90 and found out alot of wear n tear, tension belt, gasket etc... After i changed all that, the car is much better now.

u can try j4c or bvo in the resource folder. get a quote from both workshops and decide which one u are more comfortable. both workshops are good.

yeah.i changed it just b4 my 3 year warranty expired. although strictly speaking, they consider wear and tear. i changed 5 leaking things in my engine bay, amongst them the rocker gasket.

i am adding 1 liter of engine oil into the car every 4 weeks. Dunno where leaking...

Check by J4C 1.5 months ago and they changed many parts (~2k) but now still same. Going back to them soon when i have the time to spare...

are u talking about the engine oil leak? my car is one year old seems to always have this problem too.

since last servicing the sensor shows from full to half mark? is this s problem or is this normal?

Same here bro. I have to add 1L for every 1000km (or every 25 days). No workshop can detect the problem, there is no leak....:screwedu:

There is oil on my E90 spark plug... it looks like internal gasket leakage..going down to PML tomorrow for a check up and hopefully get it fix up.

Hmmm I tot the N46 engine is "designed" to "eat" engine oil? Due to the Vanos or dunno whatever thingy right? Mine E90 just did oil change 2 or 3 saturdays back, i check, its one notch below full......especially if U redline the bugger frequently, the oil drops faster.

Also if you look at ur exhuast tip, do U see the bottom of the round tip have a blackish substance? This is a symtom of makan engine oil. But I tink should be alright la, but topping up once every 25 days seems quite serious lei....need to go see doctor liao

so bad ah? i was seriously contemplating a new bmw but all this central lock failure & oil issues are really scary... i tot oni rx8 have such oil makan issues.

hi, i'm driving a e46 320i, my car dun have makan oil problem, i'm using Motul 300v, erm i would say not bad and as for oil leak probably you want to try to fix the problem @ Khang's Automatic Transmission Pte Ltd (i did oil change dere too).

Hi all i reported persitant low oil level in my 3 year old e90 to PML and even sent it in for check 1-2 months ago and they simply top-up oil. The low oil notification persisted and at 40k servicing i insist they do a thorough check and they now say i must replace oil gasket due to leak. They will charge $2,700/-

I dont think this is fair. Why did they not deteck it earlier and why is this part not covered in the warranty?

Will it be cheaper to do the repair outside?
