If you factor in your yearly bonus, im sure you can fully paid your house within 6 -10 years. My friends are doing that but the catch is they will have to re-start the cycle when they upgrade to a bigger unit.

Wat hse so cheap? i've been paying for past 12 years n still owe hdb 100k....

10 years ago 5 rm flat cost less than 240k in area like seng kang and punggol. But those days the starting pay of fresh grad is also lower. Comparing the current 5rm flat, yes it is much more expensive. But the salary of fresh grad has increase as well. I do admit the increased in salary is not comparable the rate of increment for hdb flat prices. But it is not as bad as we have to pay for life.

My post is targeted at pple who kpkb and do not plan their finances. I have seen cases where pple die die want to buy hdb flat in central area and kpkb. Ive seen many cases where pple spend most of their salary on fancy cars instead of paying off the mortgage. My advice is ai song mai kp.

My post do not cover low income earners. That is why i have akways kpkb that gahmen should help this group of pple. In fact the help from gahmen has improved over the years but i still believe they can do better.

Simple maths, assuming you start late at 25, work 30 years to 55. How much salary per month to have $155K by 55?

$2K plus.

Need to explain more? Spend more time arguing on FC and cheap tyres and engine oil change better.

My CPF every month got $1000 go in, but take out $900 to pay HDB loan. $50k also cannot hit, no need to worry about minimum sum. Sart.

Well, if that's the case, you don't pay rent or mortgage from your pay anymore !!! So what do you do and how do you account with the money saved?

Minimum sum includes the amount you have paid for your property.

Actually I dont understand what's the fuss. CPF has been very transparent about the min sum. Last year was 148, this year 7k more to adjust for inflation. Next year this time will adjust higher again.

This year $155k... I pity those who are... say 25 or 30... by the time they are 55... min sum should be S$355k and S$365k respectively, assuming yearly 'adjustment for inflation' of remains at S$7k :thinking: :thinking:
