LOL. That's slower than a 335i on Vishnu PROcede v2 Computer! But 2 different thing lah.

Performance (91-93 Octane):
0-60mph in 4.4 seconds (est.)
¼ mile 12.7s @ 111mph

Forced Aspiration is pretty good for 0-60 acceleration as we all know, the torque curve is flatter than airport.

335i must have very good traction control systems installed..to do 4.4s from 5.3s with a 60hp boost on v2 is quite hard to believe actually but so is 4.6s on a triptronic Cayman.

Actually you no need to have good traction control. For the 335, you can take off slow, but the monstrous wave of torque from the turbo engine will power the car from low RPM even ... getting it to high rpm fast enough.

For the Cayman, or NA screamer in general with less than 4 litres, the torque is not tremendous, so your window of error for the takeoff is very very small, because:

1) Start off with too little rpm, traction not broken: because of insufficiency of torque, you need a long time to build up the rpms to optimal rpm for peak torque

2) Start off with too much rpm, traction broken: yeah you reached optimal torque output for the engine, but the tyres are burning off the wheels, so screw it anyway.

The sweet spot of 15% initial slip with perfect rpm/traction compromise, that's difficult to meet in changing conditions of road and temps for an NA car. The turbo - such a wide open window, errors become largely irrelevant simply because the torque minimizes the effect of low-rpm error.

Edit: the 335 traction control is overly conservative. It's best turned off for a good 0-60 rpm time, coz the engine is quick to cut timing but slow to restore.

Sweeeeeeeet! Good posting!

big budgets help, but for a given budget, there are only so many ways you can efficiently use it to reach a performance target. If the wrong platform or wrong approach is taken, your competitor with an equal budget will leave you miles behind..
