Parking Fine - Malacca

A group of us drove in 2 cars up to Malacca on Saturday, stayed one night, went shopping and eating Sunday, then returned back Sunday evening.

During the shopping on Sunday afternoon, our 2 cars were parked along a road 10 minutes walk from a mega mall, in proper parking spaces, along with many other cars. There are no signs, no meters, nothing to indicate restrictions, yet when we returned at 5pm, both of our cars had a parking ticket (RM30).

Closer inspection showed none of the Malaysian registered vehicles had tickets and as we drove further along, noticed that all Singapore cars had been ticketed.

The ticket is in Malay, so I have no idea what I am supposed to do, but the other driver in my group said there would be no problem if we simply ignored the fine and do not pay, unlike police fines, which if you ignore, can get you in trouble during immigration checks or at police road blocks.

Do I just throw the ticket away?

shd be issued by their local district municipal council, macham our hdb or ura. from my understanding, u've to settle the fine in the same state u've be issued & if u ignore, it'll be transferred to the police with a record in the system. in the event if u kena rd blocks or clearing customs, it'll cost u more as they'll tell you that since summon has expired, but u can settle then & there for x-amount kopi money.

Re: Parking Fine - Malacca

FYI Saturday only after 1 pm is free parking. You should use the zone B parking coupon which is the same as for JB.

Nolar....even Sunday also must put parking coupons until 6 pm since its privatise already. Just pay the fine at the pondok(small hut) where most of the parking officers congregate. Quite near the mall.

Don't worried bro, those are the Bandar Raya parking fine ( town council) , nothing to do with the TP at the check point. Use that ticket as soup ingredient boil for 3 hrs will be safe.
Cheersss

Yeap I threw mine away.:)

In case u dont already know, shld u run into custom n Police problem(other than killing, robbing, etc), and get yrself questioned over this ticket by any probabilities, it can be settled via kopi $$. This is by no means an insult to our malaysian UDM haidees. Just remember, in case of any doubt...pls check my current signature.

The reason why only SG cars are ticketed is probably bcos those attendants know that they could pocket some kopi$$ whereas for the MY cars, they will either give lesser $$ than SG cars or they will settle throw the proper channel which means they earn less. Same rationale why SG cars more likely stopped on NSH for speeding.

Ah beng, i totally agreed what u hav said. The parking ticket can be kept as memento of ur trip. All city centre parking needs parking coupon from MONDAY 2 SUNDAY. By the way, kopi$$$ for malaccan ka is RM 20.:furious:

On return trip, was 'racing' with 2 MY cars but only I was stopped by the MTP. The 2 MY cars just drove on.*&%^#$^&*&#*))

Re: Parking Fine - Malacca

I ALWAYS park at Makota, no point paying kopi $$$$$ and my car is in theory safer.:)

BTW anyone knows how to check for fines in collected in .my? I haven't check for tickets over the last 2 years. Better find out before my wife finds out and freakout at the checkpoint.

U can try tis:
Look @ their face 2 c whether they are eager 4 $$$. If yes, RM 20 or "bagi saman". Mostly, they take d RM 20 & talk a lot. Since they don't stop d 2 MY ka, question d police until they let u off.

I couldnt be bothered to waste time with them. Afterall I knew what they want n the expectation I understand is a bit different if u drive a conti car, ie RM$50. And indeed I have exceeded their official limit of 110km/h by up to 50% so I just pay and move on. No point bargaining over RM$30. So thats why I treat it as track fee. Much cheaper than Sepang.:)

The moment they take the $$ from my hand, u see this grin on their faces, followed by "merry xmas ah boss"...or .."happy new year, drive slowly arh Beng".

The moment I wind up my car window, I hit the throttle and was speeding again.

Yes, it is a Majlis Bandaraya Melaka Bersejarah notice and is identical to the 5 tickets in the photo Bmer provided above.

Well, I am not going back to Melaka any time soon, so guess I'll frame it up as a souvineer.

Being an Angmoh and driving a Beemer, I am lucky if I can get away with RM50, but that was what I had to pay last time I got stopped by my "friend" in uniform near JB. I was even told to put the cash in my passport and handover my passport so no one would see.

Ah - easy come, easy go. At least I have a "friend".

The RM50 is for your no plate starting wif Sxxxxxxx. U can also ask him any more road block down the road.

U can ignore those tickets 'cause they will never ever come back to u.

By the way, as long as u r not stopped by highway petrol (polis peronda lebuhraya), u could easily get away wif RM50. Juz rem 2 keep only 1 pc of RM50 in ur wallet. When they ask, fold it small enuf 4 them to 'sneak' into their pocket. They will b veri happy.

Re: Parking Fine - Malacca

I remember a few years back when they made the annoucement that they will "recover" the fines owing from .sg cars........... my friends checked the website and noticed that those times they paid off the coppers........ they STILL KENA FINE!!!!!!!

Yeah once I asked them and they sya their hiadees has another road block near Yong Peng:lol2: which is actually Bullsheet anyway :(

These days I slow down within +/- 3km of the suspected speed traps as recorded on my GARMIN GPS. In my last 3 trips, I didnt get stopped at all.

Another clue one could take is from the Malaysian cars, if u notice all of them are speeding, chances are their local knowledge tells them ther aint any TPs around.
