PI 135i

Hi all,

Just got my 135i a few days ago but I'm facing some problems, hope the people here can help me out.

1.) car comes with IDrive but the maps show Tokyo
2.) radio only goes up to 90fm all channels have to minus 12 to get the right ones i.e class 95 is 83fm and reception is very bad.

Any ways to solve these problem?

Sad to say but apparently after money has been paid PI doesn't not seem too keen to help with these problems, Anyone can help?

Hi Mayhem,

wow, sorry to hear about that......probably the map got to re-load and the radio thingy maybe you wanna send to a audio shop and check with the master there and see if they can help......

next time before buy a PI car i think is better to check 1000% of the PI dealer first......

Well I wanted to support a friend that used to work in that company but he left before the car arrived... so.. yea I guess I'm kinda stuck here with a Sat Nav and radio that doesn't work as planned... Oh ya I called PML and they told me their Sat Nav maps won't work with the Jap PI cars, maybe they just couldn't be bothered with PI cars As for the radio part, does anyone have a reputable specialist to intro?

Hi Bro,

Sorry to hear abt the plight that you r in now....

For the GPS and Radio....has it ever cross your mind that you can contact BMW asia if PML refuses to help you? Give them a call and see what they can help you.....BMW asia is not part of PML but regulates the various distributors in Asia.

If this still doesn't work, visit some of the workshops listed on the forum....

if you read this thread, somewhere a few posts down, they show how u can see the menu options for ECE, USA, JPN, and OCE.

is your idrive and nav the new type that uses hard disk instead of dvd?

last year when i was looking at a pi from japan i was warned that i would have problems with the gps and radio on i-drive. the only fix they offered for the gps was adding in a new gps unit and having that feed into the AV input on the idrive. there was no fix offered for the radio.

good luck in finding a soln - i am sure there are a lot of people on the forum who are / have faced similar probs.

I think the radio is fixable like the JDM cars imported here. I don't think there is an easy fix for the GPS. My JDM GTR is also stuck with a Japan map. I once enquired a PI Japan M6 and the dealer said GPS system cannot be used here.

sorry to hear of your predicament. if your friend is still "your friend", he should be the one getting this mess fixed. my 2 cents.

I did all my ICE work at Hong Guan. Look for Damian or Thomas. Hopefully they can help u with the radio.

Hi Mayhem, welcome..

Can u refer to your spec documents? does it say anything about providing localised functions?..

Can try to write to them formally by email..if still dont work, visit CASE for advice..sometimes these cowboys quite scare if you go the formal approach..i did went to CASE for bad reno work..at least got back half my money..better than letting them go scot-free..though it might more work for me to prepare my evidence..

For peace of mind, I never consider PI. Although we may have to pay more to agent but in future we can sell higher price too.

Well, I've gotten cars from PIs that have VERY good after sales service so I wouldn't say that all PIs are bad/not trustworthy but yea I've learnt my lesson...

Mayb u should go thru owner manual. The radio should have 6 (if i rem correctly) difference setting. We should follow the UK setting.

As what Wilson said, the PI should settle all these problems for you, these are part of the obligation and they should provide this service.

Well...I have the same problem with my Europe map iDrive(hardisk based) for my E93. After consulting the internet and tried inserting a Singapore DVD map into my car, there is no workable solution. The map is not updatable thru simple DVD discs yet.
I think the only way is to visit PML to get the Singapore map installed.
