It does not matter with what engine....

The logic has to be correct.

If the logic to decline local food is "not consistent with our French food theme", I can understand.

But the rejection was due to "local delicacies were not in line with the image of the picnic" and "not one of the picnics to bring hawker food. You’re expected to bring more atas food.....”

That's hard to swallow.

Atas food or atas people?

How about bring laksa with foie gras instead of hum?

At least 10 people who signed up for the posh "pop-up" picnic event Diner en Blanc have withdrawn in protest against the organiser's response to bringing local food to the picnic.

The Straits Times reported that various groups of Singaporeans are also planning at least four alternative dining events.

...shame...it can be such a good event for great publicity for both SG & organiser...
