can you tell wht is the damage? tks

Re: Pml refused to upgrade my gear transmission software

You can also do the throttle adaption yourself. This will help to get smoother gear change. Someone did post the thread before.

Re: Pml refused to upgrade my gear transmission software

I understanding from Ah Wee is not 100% will resolve this 2nd to 3rd jerking issue even after the so call "programming".

Is there anyone still enounter this problem even after the the "programming"?

Re: Pml refused to upgrade my gear transmission software

Yeap Ah Wee did it for my jerky E90 too.

Don"t know what "reset" he did. BUT, the jerk is all gone.

3 cheers BVO!!!

the is the 3rd time i heard BVO solve the 'notorious' jerky problem where all other fails
so at the end, did bvo update the software or no?

Re: Pml refused to upgrade my gear transmission software

ah wee really has a way to let the car not "jerk"

But just for bro info apart from what Ah wee is doing, it is good to change your atf and tramission oil pan and see if it helps. Mine was jerking and ah wee solve the prob for few mths before it came back. I went back again as i dun mind not jeking for few mths for 80++ spent but this time round, it came back in less than 1 week. Very demoralised i thot need to change the tramission already until i forgot i did not change the transmission pan during my first atf change. So after changing, the jerk disappered for almost 2 months already. Keep finger crossed.

Re: Pml refused to upgrade my gear transmission software

Just to set the record straight...Ah Wee did the reset together with the change of my ATF and Pan.

So its a combination of all 3.

Cheers all

May the jerks and tucks all go away and let us enjoy our ride.

Re: Pml refused to upgrade my gear transmission software

how much did BVO charge for the ATF change? Planning to do it but not sure whether do it at j4c or BVO.

Re: Pml refused to upgrade my gear transmission software

I hear that PML does not recommend for ATF change. and idea why?

May I know what's the damage for doing all 3? I'm considering visiting BVO for my E60..

I'm still under warranty by PML but it seems to be potentially wasting of time if I try to get them to look into this "jerking" issue....

Thank you in advance

Re: Pml refused to upgrade my gear transmission software

I had mine done at Munich Auto. They diagnose that a new software was available and agreed to upgrade it for about $150. After change, my 1st gear - 2nd gear jerk disappeared.

After upgrade, idling became bad - solved by adjusting idling RPM. So far so good !

If you visit Munich website, you'll find a section on software upgrade that is found on most international BMW dealer site - not on PML's though

Re: Pml refused to upgrade my gear transmission software

There is adaption which ah wee did and he will drive your car out n come back with prob solved. At another workshop there recommend software change/ upgrade when they will install an update sofeware. At this workshop, their adaption doesnt drive the car out and no help to the jerk issue. For mine when ah wee adaption doesnt work, change atf n pan works. Maybe also due to adaption done previously.

actually my gear transmission is jerky when up gear from 1st to 2nd & alittle from 2nd to 3rd using 'D' model...... but when using 'DS' or 'manual" the jerk is the MOST horrible+ terrible ....any bros encounter it b4????E60/06 model..

Bro, Mine 2007 E60 with 85K, Encounter ittermitance clank sound when starting the engine, Change tranmission oil last week at BVO, The sound gone, drove to KL cruzing with 160-180K, very smooth ride, love it,

Ah Wee, love that guy. Pleasant and helpful. If only all mechanics are like him :) PML sucks when it comes to servicing and repair. My last experience with them on my 135i convinced me to go the PI route. The $ saved would more than make up for any "Dealer" support. It took all of 1.5 years and around 8 visits for them to finally fix the comfort access problem. The irony of it was that by the time it was fixed, i sold the car. For the margin they are making on the cars they sell, they certainly are dishing out some crappy service.

I agreed with you bro, Ah Wee the man,

I don't know about ATF but they didn't even change my air filter after 60k so what do u think about PML :shoot::huhhuh::shakehea:

Re: Pml refused to upgrade my gear transmission software

I had the E60 notorious sudden jerk problem when car coming to a complete stop. Went to BVO for a transmission software upgrade to solve the problem after reading thru the forum.

The problem is 98% eliminated. (I still experience a mild jerk once in a blue blue moon, maybe once in 1-2months.) But I can live with that.

R2D claim that they can solve this problem permanently, and that the so-called software upgrade is just masking the problem temporarily... but I did not try their solution since the jerk has more or less been resolved. Plus I dislike the fact that R2D charge a hoisting fee you everytime they hoist your car up (eg. for oil change).

Thinking of doing an ATF change, but not sure what the benefits are? Some quarters claim that ATF change is almost unnecesary for the typical 10 year driving life of a car in Singapore.

Can anyone enlighten ?

Could some kind soul PM me the cost of doing a ATF change?

About $1k. Most of the cost go into the ZF ATF. My E90 needs 6 bottles, I think. E60 and E65 probably need more. Honestly, even if you change ATF, it does not mean that the jerks will go away. Been there, done that.

Yes, PML claimed that the ATF is life-time for normal day driving but when they drained mine, it was black, thick and gooey. My car is 5 years.

From my experience, save that $1k and do an overhaul.

Re: Pml refused to upgrade my gear transmission software

Bro, 1K for ATF change is too much. Good ATF cost around $30-$40/L and if 6L mean max $240 only.

My car was pre-owned and was also jerky during gear shift, especially at low speeds. Then I came across a previous thread on throttle body adaptation reset. I have tried it on my E60 and the gear shift is much smoother now.

thanks for the link. did the step on pedal thing to reset and now gear shifts are significantly smoother. :) so happy.
