Ponding Again !!!

Re: Ponding Again !!!

The minister with the girly name is going to say "when it's too hot, you mofos complain about the haze. When it rains, you mofos complain about a little ponding"

Re: Ponding Again !!!

He should have stated that the ponding is by design an exhaust mod to get that tone you have been looking for......fully funded by the gahmen aided by weather.

You know ..... The famous fill your muffler with water mod to get the Performance exhaust tone.

Potholes or ponding, they will blame it on the weather, or nature, or society, or the soil condition, or some legacy issues, etc etc. The day when one guy has the guts to step up and admit that the ERP revenues have gone into overpaid civil servant 'growth' bonuses, or that their drainage master plan cannot keep pace with the development of built up space, or the replenishment of road surfaces etc, that guy will get my vote.

You sound quite good yourself - why not you get yourself into the system and do better?

Or are you a keyboard warrior?

Talk cock don't need to pay one - I hope you didn't.

I believe there are many who wants to try and may even do better. Unfortunately if one is not in "their books" in their POV or willing to play the 'pull line game'... how to try? In such a case and refusing to play 'pull the line game', it is either bang thy skull on a concrete wall or just be a keyboard warrior... so why not latter :lol2:

Also I think what poster meant by Civil Servant, is not all civil servant per se but those few sitting in Ivory Tower.

Hi, I can safely assure you that I am a member of the paying citizenry and I have seen my daily ERP rise steadily over the years to $13-15 a day, and often more than that. Yes, ERP, road taxes, COEs are all choices, and I'm sure many of us willingly chose to pay in exchange for that precious few minutes of sleep given the crazy hours we work. But honestly, would someone touch his/her heart and honestly swear that the average quality of the roads has improved over the years. Or that jams have been resolved by ERP? The moment I pass the $6 gantry in the morn I queue up in a back-to-back jam to town. Same thing happens when I am on the way home. In the first place, was Singapore designed to accommodate so many cars as projected in the approval papers on the COE quotas between 2004-2009? I cannot answer this nor 'get into the system and do better' as I am not trained as a transport planner or traffic engineer.

I may have sounded harsh in my initial post, apologies if it touched a raw nerve. However, we are members of the public. And we have a right to a voice. Peace.

Get into system will end up following the system and enjoying the perks and the bonuses and the goodies and the pay and the money and get the facts covered up by too-eager-to-please grassroots leaders during visits to wards (we can tell whenever an MP is due to visit the estate - because suddenly, the Banglas are furiously scrubbing the corridors and sweeping the common areas) ... And soon, the will to change the system will soon wither and give way to the party whip and official propaganda and bureaucracy and whatever else....

And so, there goes another "I wanted to change the system" bright hope.. Snuffed out.

You guys should read some of Vivian's writings and comments before his induction into the ranks of the elites.

Stay away, bro seanskye - don't give into the lure of the Sith!!!!

Re: Ponding Again !!!

Honestly, a lot of civil servant does not have the ball to fix things up. In fact, these ppl might pretend not to see it. Otherwise, why would we sink under flash flood?

Over the past 13 yrs, their foresight has become shorter & shorter & ...........................

Before Induction, I recalled hearing "liked him", "he is one of the Hope", "Promising", etc etc... now from same source, I hear "what a disappointment", "really disappointed with him", "what happened to him", etc etc

Re: Ponding Again !!!

I guess politicians should not be blamed for natural disasters, especially if it is un-predictable in nature.

Admittedly, many of us laymen might not do a better job handling the situation.

That being said, the denial, the side-stepping, the partial delivery of facts and the story-telling is a different thing altogether.

Don't worry I am a full-fledged Jedi master of gardening now. Having said that, I have given over a decade of my best years toward nation building and enjoyed it (plus not breaking the bond unlike the younger generation these days... tsk tsk!!) It is truly a good place to be if one is on the AO scheme. Many of my close friends are still there and will never leave. For me, I'm just happy to do my part differently in my own little way.

In general, Singapore United is awesome. Discounting the best this and best that 'awards', we truly have a lot of things in Singapore that we should be grateful for (or even take for granted) and we should give thanks to the people who made these things happen. Nonetheless, when things go absolutely wrong, even the small guys on the street like me have a right to ask why.

Moving along in other news...

Re: Ponding Again !!!

I hope his house be flooded with 10 cm deep of rain water if he stays in a landed, 10 cm of sewage water from his his shitty toilet bowl if he stays in an apart or HDB and car to have a near miss from the flying rock due to heavy rain for talking c*ok.

Re: Ponding Again !!!

Piss off la..
Heavy Rain blame gahment, Accident on roads also blame gahment, ponding also blame gahment?! Might as well blame gahment for getting caught with illegal mods.

BUT!!!!!!! I can understand how most would feel...increasing cost of living and taxes, surely the govt better do a good job to ensure the life of every Singaporean. And this is what the govt of Singapore has been trying to do and is trying their best to. No one is perfect and no govt system out there is flawless. There are policies that benefit majority and unfortunately doesnt cover some. But that's how policies are.

All I can say is that we should be fortunate that it was only "Ponding" at specific areas and not an islandwide "Flooding". It is true that many of our drainage systems are built ages ago and they may need improvements. So lets see how these affected areas are going to be improved and lets judge again. Look, Orchard road didnt flood yday...Did the govt solve it or it wasn't raining there???

Even though we may not agree with some of the policies out there but lets be positive and be thankful we have a govt who actually listens and cares. They may not be perfect but they try to aim to be ideal for us.

Singapore....HUAT AH!!!!!!!
