Hi all folks,

I am new in this forum, but I am glad BMW does have their own community here and since I am contempting to upgrade my existing ride to a F10, so i guess i had came into the right place :)

I had went for a Test Drive today at Bt Timah Showroom on the F10 523i Highline model and was pretty impressed compared to my existing ride and was contempting to get it.

Current price was $229,800 with COE + Additional $2.8K for the sunction door + $5000 for the Sunroof. DIscount will just be $3000 that's all. Freebies will only be Cool Lite Solar Film.

Just to gather some feedbacks from Bros here, do you find the I had kana chop carrot? Hopefully could get from feedback and advice from folks here.

They claim that BMW is the lowest maintenance cost among Conti Cars..

1. Change Engine Oil = $300+
2. Run-Flat Tyres is only $300+

Looks not too bad to me, what do you think?

Lastly, hope to see you guys soon if i decided to book my F10 :)

Re: Potential F10 Newcomer...

Hi bro, welcome in. Ur willing to buy the 5 at such a cut throat OMV?

Re: Potential F10 Newcomer...

Hi Amber,

Errr... not too sure too. but i think buying a car is more than just the OMV..i think overall design, interior, exterior..etc plays a part.

I had read several pages on the F10 and i think it is a mixed reaction. So i am also having this mixed reaction.

Test drove the car this afternoon and was Wow... maybe I haven't driven a Beemer before. My current ride is a Merc C200.

Re: Potential F10 Newcomer...

Hello cisconet1234, welcome.

F10 is nice. Price vs omv not very attractive though, making annual depreciation high.

The run flats (17 or 18) are definitely more than $300+ each.

Re: Potential F10 Newcomer...

Hi etan,

Thanks for your feedback.

Yup, so i am not too sure if the new batch of F10, will they raise the OMV. What the Se told me was that if i book now, the delivery date will be in Oct. And in Oct, only when they register the car, then the OMV will be higher due to the Euro raising now, dunno if he is smoking me or... how true.

And the tyres, i think he is smoking me, my current C200 tyre already cos $340, how can a Run Flat tyre from PML cost around there..

That is why I join this forum hopefully bros here could enlighten me.. hehe

Re: Potential F10 Newcomer...

Hi there, hope that no offense is taken. It's my habit to look at things from a financial perspective. But yeah, if you're in it for the long term then it should be negligible. Hope u enjoy ur ride :)

Re: Potential F10 Newcomer...

thanks all bro here... anyway i haven't confirm.. hoping to look around and seek bros advice here..hehe

Re: Potential F10 Newcomer...

It definitely looks like he's smoking you! Your SE can predict that the OMV will be higher in Oct??

See this link for latest OMV figures in June from LTA:

http://www.onemotoring.com.sg/publi...ost.MainPar.0047.File.tmp/Car_Cost_Update.pdf

523HL: OMV: 43k, Cost: 138k, Selling: 229k, Profit approx 90k, depending on discounts etc
E250: OMV: 56k, Cost: 185k, Selling 219k, Proft approx 34k, ..........

I wonder why Mercedes' OMV are not affected by the Euro.....

I bought a C180 for my wife 1.5 years ago, OMV was 38k. Now with the weaker Euro, the OMV of the new C180CGI is still 38k. Higher than the 523 non-HL!!!

IMHO, the new F10 is a nice car. But looking at the above numbers, you must really love the car deep deep deep deep to put your money down on it.

My 2 cts....

Completely agree. The other aspect you would want to look at is at the after-sales of PML. They can brag about the lowest cost of maintenance but if you read the forums closely, the quality of the after-sales is sub-standard compared to Merc and Audi. For that amount of money for the given OMV and the selling price, it's already a big loss for those who decides to sell the car later on. Expect 1st year buyers to take a hefty depreciation due to the low OMV. The F10 would be a nice car but given the scene here, I would not pay that amount of money since the OMV already shows the car is severely overpriced compared to the competition. Logically, how much more can the OMV of the car can change? Marginally. Even then, most of the money is pure profit. It's like giving you back $1 after spending $100. Same way we got GST credits and everything increased later on. In the end, we are on the receiving end.

Re: Potential F10 Newcomer...

The reason why later batches of F10 having better features like bigger screen navigation may be to boost up the omv.

Re: Potential F10 Newcomer...

If you can wait, it is better to shop for the car during year end or next year. It is likely to be much cheaper (estimated 5-figure sum savings). Current prices are definitely cut-throat.

This is not the reason. I previously booked a 523HL and they told me that they could not get the original Business SatNav (with the smaller screen) to work locally. So, the first batches of HL F10s will be locally retrofitted with the Professional SatNav (same as the 535). Since the OMV is based on what comes out of the factory, locally retrofitting the SatNav or any other add-ons would not increase the OMV of the car. Even so, we all know that the distributor marks up their margins way high, so, with the addition of the SatNav, they may sell more of their GPS DVDs/Updates in future. Do you know how much they charge for a GPS DVD? Make a guess.

Thanks for the clarification.

GPS DVD - too much....!

Re: Potential F10 Newcomer...

My relative booked a E250 and asked for the GPS option and was told it cost 9k so my guess is 7-9k.
