Re: psst sound when tap on brake pad

Never heard such thing on E46 nor Zs..hmm...
Since 3 of u hv the same E90, it's fair to assume that it's potentially an inherent problem. Gd Luck

Re: psst sound when tap on brake pad

albert & James,

they changed the rear brake pads to rectify the piss sound. I hv not collected my car so dun know if it helps to solve the problem.

anyway, my car is abt 6 mths old & clocked mileage 17K plus ..it's abt time to change the pads also.

I shd be collecting my car tm (Hopefully) and will drive for few days & monitor...keep u guys posted again next wk.

Cheers!

Re: psst sound when tap on brake pad

the pissing sound seems to come when i depress the brake lightly. and the sound on my ride come from the front. my rear left has the squeaky sound sometimes. better now after some brake cream.

is brake pad free or chargeable at PML?

Albert..only the coffee is free flow there....jus kidding ya!

mine comes with the 3 yrs free maintance so its not chargable...
or u might wanna consider changing it outside? but i dun know wats the price difference.

Re: psst sound when tap on brake pad

heard some bros say PML very sensitive about warranty issues on brake pad. i cant believe it! anyway i will likely get it change at outside workshop if they have my model of brake pad.

Re: psst sound when tap on brake pad

Hi Pingman,

Why don't you just send your car in for a checkup first, since it's under warranty. Worse come to worse, they tell you that need to change brake pad and they want to charge you for it. You can then reject them and go elsewhere to do the job. My friend managed to get a new set of brake pads for his E46 320i for free (while under warranty). So no harm trying to see if they'll do it for you FOC. :)

regards,
jooggie

Re: psst sound when tap on brake pad

hi guys. thanks for all your advice. i finally got the brakepads checked outside of PML. i simply cannot wait 2 day for PML to service my car. the following are the outcome:

1. front brakepad that caused the psst sound is being filed and lubed. didnt change it as it still have 70% left. at least now i know what is causing the sound and not because of brake line or brake fluid etc unknowns.

2. changed rear brakepad to original stock BMW dusty pad. apparently it seems that my existing lubed stock brakepad left about 40% and will cause the squeaking sound.

its has been a week already, still no sound and very good braking.

now, i m thinking whether changing the brake line will make the braking feeling more 'strong'...

Re: psst sound when tap on brake pad

No worries man, it's just the blow-off-valve. You sure your car isn't the twin-turbo 335i?

Ok just kidding, sorry. Glad you have your problem fixed. :)

Re: psst sound when tap on brake pad

hi guys....having the same problem and worse on E46...had brake pads changed about a month back at PML at ridiculous labour charge...its getting squeakier than before changing e 4 brakepads when I tap lightly on e brake at low speeds(i try to brake gently with passengers around)...but not at higher speeds...
any advice or whom should I go to?its new brakepads so what could be the problem?got so bad that even non driver passengers comment about it...

this is last of PML for me...feel like the car ended up in worse condition after sent it to them...
