Query on On-board Computer Stick for E46 FL

Hi,

I was wondering if it's possible to transfer the On board computer stick from one car to another? Is it a very difficult task? Has anyone done it before? :thinking:

I am keen on getting one but is not ready to pay PML for the 'BC' stick. Any bros dekitting the 'BC' signal stick from their E46FL 318? Can make me an offer.

Yes, it is possible.. in fact it is an official add on option in the e46 brochure.

The stick will cost a few hundred bucks if buy from eng soon. Not sure installation will cost how much. Have been wanting to do so for a long time but have not done so.

hi xuexun, this is mainly on the programming needed also, i believe? seems interesting... just buy the stick + install? nothing else? cos if so easy and couple of hundred, reali worth considering... have you done it? wanna guinea pig? or 2 guinea pigs together... hmmm... any idea who's doing it? (dun wan pml to touch my car, so i guess its either bvo, or j4c...?)

Yes, you can. I've done that on my old ride at BVO, need to add some code only.

hi Calvin, thanks for the update! btw, i'd like to do it too. what do i have to buy? n maybe if not convenient publicly, can u pm me how much ur damage was? (cos mod bug still biting now... especially for interiors, cos exterior mods sometimes damage beyond my control, so trying to minimise on external, max on internals...) anythin other interesting projects you embarked on for interiors?

I do not know how much the OBC stick selling in PML now... I got mine from MW, cheap, just a token... you guys maybe can try to get from those bro who gog to export their ride...
as for adding the code, you guys may check with BVO-Bernard... or PML, they do the code as well. compared the price.. I did it few years back... very simple job.

I know someone personally who bought the stick and the installation from PML... for SGD $800.... if that helps anyone.... i suspect not!

It can do all the below....

Hidden Onboard Computer Functions
There are a number of "secret" OBC functions which can be enabled to display raw data output on the digital odometer. Some are found during standard operation (e.g. average fuel economy), but many others are unique to the "hidden" mode (e.g. engine speed or vehicle speed).
Note: these functions will work on ALL US-spec E46 cars, even early 323/325 models which are technically not equipped with the OBC option. The OBC is in fact installed and operative in every E46; as an option, it can be "retrofitted" (activated) by installing the OBC-style turn signal stalk and activating the appropriate trigger during an ECU reflash. The better dealership service departments will know how to do this.
Instructions to access the hidden OBC functions:
1. Hold Trip Reset while turning ignition key to on position
2. OBC should show "Test"
3. Use Trip Reset to select function 19.0 that unlocks all the features
4. Wait for display to show "Off"
5. Depress Trip Reset for 1/4 second and release it
6. With no delay press Trip Reset several times to select one of the following function s
