Hi guys,

I have a question...might be a silly one, but i read in the manual that the red light below my mirror is supposed to be blinking when i lock the car?

am driving a E93, I saw a Z4 that had the similar light and it was blinking...

Any idea if the red light is supposed to blink?

I asked the SA at PML buy they said its normal to see nothing..and that it is to receive the alarm...but i think he is talking nonsense...does that mean the manual that BMW provided is rubbish??

In fact, I dont even see anything when i locked my car...

lost....

thanks guys!!

Most of the BMWs here do not come with factory alarm system. The clown nose is supposed to blink only with factory alarm installed. The factory alarm will have a siren and your car will beep when locking/unlocking.

Might be. Most of the beemers I've seen here do not even have the clown nose rear view mirrors. The PML cars do not have factory alarms as option but have thiefproofing device added as option. Anyway it's quite easy to fake having an alarm and make the clown nose blink. Just some electronics need to be connected to 2 of the pins of the mirror to make it blink

Now how do I do that?

Re: Question on alarm system - red light below mirror supposed to blink?

The clown nose blinks when the alarm is armed. Yes usually on PI cars =) from what I gathered too. I would encourage to tick the alarm option if you can choose. Because i longed for it when I don't have it. It may not be great like those aftermarket ones but it's not easy to find an aftermarket one that fits our cars like an oem.

I thought the clown nose was supposed to be a sensor that correspond with our remote :).
Actually was complaining why it is so big, ugly and bulgy :)

Now i know what is it for. Cheers

The older version of the clown nose is longer whereas the newer ones are just about 5mm long

Irrelevant,

i saw this youtube video of a Viper system whereby it would start your car and off your car through SIRI.
I havent research much into it but i though the VIPER system would be another alarm system. Anyone knows of this technology n if it can be fitted into our bimmers? :)
