Redline SI-1 Complete Fuel System Cleaner

Anyone tried this before?

My ride's almos hitting the 100k mark. I just emptied a bottle into my tank this afternoon before filling it up to 3/4 full - wanted it to be a little bit more "concentrated". Drove from SG to KL. Hopefully the distance and sustained driving will give it some real thorough cleaning.

Though I've read some pretty good reviews on the Redline SI-1, my personal experience wasn't overly positive. Although acceleration felt a tad bit smoother, however, I actually felt that the car lost power when accelerating! Also, not sure if this was due in part to my pumping of Petronas petrol.

Anyway, I hope that the "power lost" was due to the stuff cleaning the fuel system in my e90. Hopefully my drive back from KL to SG would give me a different experience after all the "cleaning"...

Anyone has a different experience to share?

okay... after I finished my tank, I filled it up again with Caltex97... been a day and half of city driving, and the ride does feel a little bit more spirited. I used to have a fluctuating rpm at idle, and it how seems to have gone away (for now - need to verify)... I'm doing the KL-SIN drive tmr and will report again when I get back...

I used both before. Redline is definitely better. I had been using since previous car at every 20-30k.

hi lkm,

any change in engine oil consumption after you used the fuel system cleaner ?

i used Liquid Moly Ceratec when my E90 mileage at 80k (now mileage 90k), i am experiencing engine oil loss.

need to top up 1 ltr engine oil every 3k distance.

i'm not sure is it due to the cleaning agent or is just pure coincident on the wear and tear.

So far so good... no change in oil consumption.... in fact, I still have a slight oil leak and was monitoring the oil level all the way from SG to KL back to SG.... it stayed at the max level... so no measurable oil loss.

Fuel and oil lubrication system are independent..only place they may meet is at combustion chamber....Oil loss has nothing to do with using Fuel cleaner...

Okay... here's my 2cents worth report... I noticed not much discernable differences when driving. The perception of "sluggishness" as compared to my KL trip 2wks ago (before SI-1 treatment) was probably due to the fact that 2wks ago, I was travelling up to KL alone. This round, wifey came along. And alongside the additional luggage in the boot, the car has to carry more weight (now 2people mah!)... so that explains the "sluggishness"...

The main difference I observed is that the RPM at idle appeared more stable (previously, it was sometimes fluctuating).

I used to use STP in my previous ride. I switched to Redline for 3 reasons:
1. online reviews seem to suggest Redline better
2. did anyone notice that STP's bottles are now smaller? So less stuff for the same price previously.
3. Redline cheaper! $16 vs STP $25!!

While I may not HIGHLY recommend it personally, I would probably recommend it as a once-in-a-while preventive maintenance...

That's what I though so too! Until today, I still cannot understand why some people would insist on an oil filter replacement after using a fuel cleaner treatment...

Only fuel filter need to be replaced.

Re: Redline SI-1 Complete Fuel System Cleaner

but Beemers fuel filters are not replacement friendly.... unlike the Japs... sigh

Re: Redline SI-1 Complete Fuel System Cleaner

Juz replace it every 50k km loh. That should be enough. At 100k km, also change fuel pump also.

There is no sure thing as lifetime. I think it is better to change it especially fuel pump. I had fuel pump failure around 100k km at 11+pm. That's annoying.

Was thinking of the fuel pump replacement....now that my ride has reached its 5yr mark and 100k on its odometer.... Previous ride left me stranded when the pump died too.... but that was another story... haha..
