Regret getting 523 instead of 525?

Just wonder if anyone else have any regret in getting the 523 (190hp) instead of getting 525(218)?
Can you really feel the power different between them?
Do they drive the same?

Re: Regret getting 523 instead of 525?

Its the age old argument, power is never enough. The pre LCI 5er has 177bhp but the LCI 5er has 190bhp... Nice little upgrade.

Anyway, the 525s are rated at 218bhp/250Nm whilst the 523s have 190bhp/230Nm, so really, not THAT much of a difference in terms of performance. Always nice to have that little extra though.

Install Sprint Booster - best investment.......

At least not for me.
Of cse will feel the difference, you will curse if that isn't for another $20K thrown in :)

Re: Regret getting 523 instead of 525?

I had a buddy who had it done for about 400-600. Can't remember the exact figure... brand new on his 523 LCI.

Re: Regret getting 523 instead of 525?

Quite a few bros strongly recommend this sprint booster. But I also came across some posts claiming problems in longer run....am in 2 minds if I should go for it. Any thoughts on this ?

Re: Regret getting 523 instead of 525?

From what I gathered around and through the posts, It doesn't really change anything other than hijacking the throttle imput to simulate full throttle when it feels you need it. No hp or torque gain. It works only on the driver to simulate the " Hey I don't need to depress a lot to move already" feeling and that equates to "Oh... its good to have this since I can overtake easily with a little throttle input"

I don't have it in my car and thus those are what I heard and read. Problems I didn't hear any other than its money paid for a nicer drive to the driver.

I still like to floor when overtaking. Feels more exciting for now. Until it loses the novelty.... maybe I will get a bigger engine altogether.... =) enjoy the day!!

Re: Regret getting 523 instead of 525?

Don't get a bigger engine, you'd kick yourself, cause there's always a 'bigger' engine.... get the biggest one.... V10 5.0litres... then nothing else to upgrade to except add turbos....

Re: Regret getting 523 instead of 525?

Actually I already got myself a 523. Wanted a 525 but the SE seems to be more interested in selling the 523 instead of 525, and the deal for 525 is not very attactive too. Thus I did not even bother to test drive it.
Now feel a bit regret as I am not sure if the 525 (equipment and power) is worth the 20k increase.
Just trying to convince myself that I did not make a bad decision :uhhh:

Hi zero, convenient to let me know how much may that investment be?

I used it on my previous E46 and now E90 - so far love every minutes of it....... :)

Sigh.... I thought I would be contented when I got the E46 with one of the best interior and exterior that I can find. After 3 months of driving, I find the 2 li valvetronic engine just not enough to be fun. Maybe I've always sat in my friends STI out for lunch. The sub or low 5s pull is defintely interesting and won't be dull after a while.

Nice interior and all the electronic gadgets are only gadgets after a while. My friend is convinced that a car should be raw with decent in the very least. Of course not talking about the 1/2 million cars but the oversubcribed ones like the evoX or 335 thereabouts.

Does that happen to a lot of bros here?

Yes, After a while, when the new leather smell novelty wears off, the only thing that can bring some adrenaline on the daily ride back will be a seat wetting full throttle... from what I am going through right now.

hehe. What an afternoon on a tuesday!

Re: Regret getting 523 instead of 525?

My only regret is not getting the M5 but there is no way I would pay that price and let PML make a 30% margin. Someone in this forum paid 150K to drive around an M6 for one and a half years. That's ludicrous IMHO.

Man you are right!

If this is a car you wanna DRIVE, it gotta be raw enough.
