basically the rim crack in half. replica rim for merc 211 (why is it in vagsg instead? lol)
there's no magic one. if the rim is too light to be true... it's usually not strong either. otherwise has to be damn expensive due to material.
light and strong = ex
heavy and strong = stock
light and cheap = not strong
i like the comment on vagsg:

taiwan rim is branded as replica rim = risk
popular manufacturer like bbs, dpe, hre, rays, advan, etc = good (of course)
non popular rim manufacturer ... make good quality rim but copy branded design = good or bad?
is forgestar consider good or bad?
is bc forged consider good or bad?
is breyton china made consider good or bad?
judge the wheel based on company history, manufacturing process (ie: cast/forged) and place of manufacture?
i strongly believe wheel + tyre + brake is upmost important

I never believe in cheap rims .... i rather eat less and spend bit more on rims .... spent a pretty consider amount even on casted rims twice on previous rides even though they are Japan made. Blame on my poor skills and kana kerb rashes but after repair they are still sellable and very good condition.
I sold such japanese cheap but good rims to other rides and their rides are more expensive than mine but they are only cheap taiwan rims maybe kana smoke by the shop or they like the cheap offer package. but when they took out their rims from the tyres and put on the ground, you can see their "damaged" rims in oval shaped and these 2l turbo cars still dare to drive on them .... I salute them for their balls ....
One of my close friend, despite many warnings still stick to taiwanese rim but one night, his car drove over a pothole in singapore and the entire car has a huge loud knock sound and thank god the car skided like 3 lane across .... the front rim was bent and cracked immediately....
I dun mean cheap rims are not good but you have to see the menality of the owner or driver. if he is driving like within legal street limits and then ok lah if dun kana kerb, pothole or big stone, wood, etc ..
Some owners work in industrial areas and they dun want they expensive rims to be sand blasted so they stick to cheap rims too ...
End of the day big brands also have plants in taiwan / china too ..... important is check with seniors if certain rims are a worthy investment.
