Review - Orange TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System)

Re: Review - Orange TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System)

Just a quick update..

TPMS recently showed a 5 PSI drop over a period of 1 weeks, and at first checked the tyre and couldn't find any culprit, had retightened the valve and drove around for another 2 weeks, this time, the leak came back and PSI slowly dropped over a period of 2 weeks again.

This was obviously a very slow leak. Had the tyre guys inspect the tyre again and now, just discovered a small nail which was wedged just nicely in the middle of a thread. Took a good 7 minutes to slowly rotate and look for the nail!

Can drive now with a better peace of mind.

Oh yes, Snowdog from JuzzForCars has a similiar system called Tyredog. Go check it out if you're interested in it's usefulness. http://www.bmw-sg.com/forums/uuc-parts-wilman2772/28466-tyre-dog-wireless-tpms.html

Re: Review - Orange TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System)

Hi Ryan - this looks really cool... I got a question though (open to anyone to answer):

I have two sets of wheels, one for track and one for every day use. Can you get a second set of sensors and have them also registered with the head unit??

I usually do a quick change to semi-slicks before heading up north to track.

Re: Review - Orange TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System)

not suggesting which TPMS is better...

but if you are facing the same requirements as me, then a better solution would be to get the tyredog - easy to swap - takes less than 10 mins.

Marc,

Yes you can do that :) I did enquire as i was planning to have a secondary set for trackday like what you mentioned.

Re: Review - Orange TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System)

i'd actually prefer a display that runs on batteries, as opposed to having a wire hanging all the time from the cig lighter. Is there such a system?

Re: Review - Orange TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System)

hmmm how do both compare?

is there any advantage of having a sensor installed within the tyre vs attached to valve?

wireless is definitely cleaner than wired. however does the orange self powering battery pack option too?

Re: Review - Orange TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System)

seems like alot of unanswered question on this orange TPMS, may i ans for all that is interested in the item?

swapping of tire:

dont need to manually reposition the sensors as there are option of swapping the reading from the display from touch of buttons on the receiver.

2 sets of rim:

if wanting to get extras sensors on the existing receiver it can be done, but the sensors is expensive costing at about USD$30 per sensor. so no point.

TXXXdXX and Orange TPMS:

the sensor is attach on the valve cap so chances of itchy hand is there.

Orange TPMS sensor is install inside the rim so much safer.

Leakage or reading differences:

Orange TPMS have a accuracy of + - 1PSI and also heat build up of the compress air expands on hi temp so there is differences here and there.

Under normal compress air, be it theres is a nail of watever leakage, the air will still leak.

unless car in pump with nitrogen, which i understand is that its more resistance to leakages.

Power supply of Orange TPMS:

orange tpms SENSORS is power by battery of minimun batt life span of 7yrs.
The receiver is power by 12Vdc from car.

Glenn :p
