Revo review?

Anyone has a Revo installed? Care to review?

Re: Revo review?

Watch for the July issue of Carma. There is a review on it.

I would consider it a very good product, and a godsend for those not wanting to pay a fortune to get an additional brand specific DAB tuner to add on. Especially for those who don't want to change their original HUs.

For your moby setup, that's a function that would compliment right, afterall you will lose the radio function?

Re: Revo review?

I still have FM tuner for the moby setup. But if you listen to CDs most of the time, FM radio does sound funny.

I'm planning on building the interface for the touchscreen to control the revo too.

When you drive to Malaysia do you still get the DAB signal or do you have to fall back to analog broadcast?

Re: Revo review?

this is wat i heard..so dont flame me ya.. DAB REvo or watever DAB still faces distorted signal in tunnels or MSCP.. dunno how true..

Re: Revo review?

ah, thanks for that tip!

the guys at the store i visited did admit that reception is not fantastic in certain areas... so i suppose it could be those areas...

the thing that is troubling me is the short antenna wire (2m) originally... so that kinda limits the windscreen antenna to the front... and since the airbags are in the front windscreen too , i'm hesitant to have them placed there too...

anyone knows if they sell the IR remote control here too?

anyone with a DAB would like to share some feedback?

Re: Revo review?

I think Robert Bosch will package the Revo to come with the Blaupunkt windscreen DAB antenna.

Let's wait... if we chill long enough our REVO expert will come in and clear the air... :)

Re: Revo review?

Wah review leh! Is the sound really that much better?

Re: Revo review?

sound-wise, it's definitely much better than standard FM.
it's basically like playing from mp3.

reception-wise... it's not perfect of cse.
i got 3 friends who has REVO in their cars too.
all 3 of them get poor reception in East coast area.
but strangely i've no prob with mine.
however, once i go into little india and marina area... i get absolute zero-reception.
so it seems like... REVO in different cars n antenna setup performs differently.

but i wouldn't blame it on the REVO. i think the problem lies with mediacorp.
everyday i see this msg being displayed on my REVO ..
"sorry for the inconvenience.. Smartradio is now doing tests on the following channels.... blah blah blah..."

Re: Revo review?

hmm i understand the antenna for the DAB is stuck to the windscreen, does any of these cars have solar flims installed in them that could be affecting the reception? ... just a thought...

Re: Revo review?

yeah could be.... are all of u driving the e46 or is it a good mix of cars? i realised that reception inside the cabin is always poorer then outside... maybe the glass used for certain cars have got higher content of lead or something in them....

ok. I need to mention something here. the screen antenna is affected by METALLIC-based solar film only. If you have dyed films or ceramic based, you're fine. no hole cutting needed.

Yes, reception is still iffy in certain areas. and for some reason, it's gotten worse over the past few weeks (bun, you experiencing this too?)

If you mount your antenna on the rear, remember that many cars these days come with an integrated de-mister/antenna. couple that with thick metallic based solar film, well... you know how it goes...

and one last thing, while the REVO does allow connections via RF modulator, the manufacturer (and I) highly recommend that the installation be done via Aux-In. If you don't have an aux-in, you can add a pre-amp. (provided you have an amp. If not, you're dealing with RF modulators, of which there's a new improved model coming which eliminates FM signal when the REVO is ON, but it's still nothing compared to Aux-In.)

Any other questions?

Well, define Malaysia, and I'll give you the answer. if you're refering only to JB, then the REVO will work fine. Anything higher than that, and you'll have to fall back on FM. (Malaysia has no DAB yet).

If you are able to build a touch screen interface, let me know. I might be able to help you make money on it. Heh. On a global scale.

yeah yeah yeah... I'm here already. happie? heh.

No, the REVO does not come with the Blaupunkt Windscreen antenna. It comes with it's own antenna (which is, ok ok, I know, made by the same OE manufacturer as the Blaupunkt one. Heh.).

Re: Revo review?

Heh.... to dispel any myths about the antenna, it is made by a Japanese company if I remember correctly.

One thing to add though, I wish there were more station presets.

you try and find more space on the REVO to add the buttons? I DIY for you...
