Rocky, Bumpy Ride on my E90 320i

Hi all,

Got my '06 E90 just 2 months ago. Recently noticed that the ride is rather rocky and bumpy, especially on minor road bumps and gets worse the longer i drive. Tyres are 205/55/R16 and suspension was changed before I took the car.

Will changing to new tyres help or is there something else that can be done?

Any help/advise/experience would be appreciated.

Thanks y'all,
Luke

7 years old car
may be is good to change the suspension including the top mount for front
bmw original stock suspension is not expensive
best go to a workshop to assess the condition

Chances r dealer changed to lousy brand of oem.. U can try changing a set. Last i rmbed, the ride only became bumpy on 19" low profiles.

Just need a clarification, do u consider a ride in a taxi... comfortable, safe and decent? Or bouncy and unsafe?

I asked because there's a misconception that firm road holding suspension (feel every single minor road bumps) is regarded and bumpy while a taxi's suspension is regarded as comfortable and safe (confirmed cannot feel much of minor bumps).

No offense intended, just clarifying the issue highlighted as 'bumpy especially on minor road bumps'.

On a sidenote, the slightly stiffer suspension on bimmer makes cabin rattles v pronounced. Esp the dash area, dam irritating. Can PML rectify dash rattles?

Hmmm, strange, mine (on RFT too) do not have such an issue
Ok, I better go touch wood for future.

Yes....this is one thing they are good at......sticking friction tapes.

No offense taken. Yes, I can feel every single minor road bump, not to mention the more major ones. The car bumps up and down and sometimes side to side. All I want is a comfortable side, i.e. bumps minimised to an acceptable level, by acceptable I mean not physically noticeable. it is beginning to bug the hellouta me...

Does appear to be an issue with your suspension especially the springs.

Cents

In-house cheap and effective way to rectify the issue maybe?

Re: Rocky, Bumpy Ride on my E90 320i

Suggest you go to a mechanic to check your suspension and damper. BMW ride should not be uncomfortable even on sports suspension. Stock suspension can absorb minor bumps quite well.

More like damper issues .......

Change tyres on my E90 320 from runflat to normal, ride improve, noise reduced by big margin, braking better, cornering more sharp... Don't know why BMW insist on runflat.

So no need spare tire ........
