Hi,

Any members perform 1k, 5k ,10k "Run-In" servicing ?

Was told bring in 10k ...no need 1 k or 5 k run in..

Re: "Run-In" servicing ?

Back in 2005, BMW told the new 3 series (E90) owners that the same thing, no need oil change, just change oil at the regular service interval of 25,000 km. Many people ended up with seized engines that were full of sludge and required full engine overhauls before even the warranty ends.

Now in 2012, BMW builds turbo engines and recommend service intervals of 10,000 (or 12,000?) km. Japanese cars used to recommend 5,000 km.

You be the judge.

Re: "Run-In" servicing ?

Done my 1st 2k 'run in' servicing.

Plan to do next one in another 8k or system prompt whichever earlier.

Singapore weather is so hot and humid.

Re: "Run-In" servicing ?

Do you keep your speed to under 80kmh during run in?

I thought nowadays don't need to run in anymore?

According to handbook, keep below 160kmph and 4500rpm for first 2000km.

Since RUn-in is till 2K, is it not a good idea to replace oil after run-in?

Re: "Run-In" servicing ?

If die-die want to do 5k servicing/oil-change, will PML give you a hard time or simply accept your money?

Re: "Run-In" servicing ?

u can do servicing every 1000km if u like..PML will just change oil for u and maybe give you award

I saw some bros replying here that PML did not accept their cars before 10/12k.

Yes. I think pml is quite overloaded with cars these days.

Do outside or MA

Re: "Run-In" servicing ?

Just wondering whether servicing is included with the car? Forgot to ask about this when I ordered mine.

If u do not want the warranty to be void, doing outside is not adviseable... only MA is the option besides PML.

No free service, but you could have negotiated for service credits or similar.
