Screeching sound coming from wheel

Need advice from you all. Everytime I hit the brakes fully or half press on the brakes, there will be this extremely loud screeching sound coming from my tyres. I have changed front and back rotor recently (not original though) and my brake pads are still rather okay (not original though). My ride is E60 with 19" original M3 rims and PSS tyres. I was told by workshop that it is sound coming from the rims and mentioned that the larger the rims, the louder the sound. But to me it is not logical as there was sound everytime I hit the brakes. No sound coming from the wheels if I am cruising. The sound is also loud when I am reversing with half pressed brake. Another workshop commented that it is because I did not use ORIGINALparts for both rotor and brake pads.

I have tried another E60 with stock fittings. The same action is applied as above but the sound is very soft. Can anyone help me to troubleshoot this??? Been driving for a while and it has made my driving experience very bad.....

Re: Screeching sound coming from wheel

I experienced the same problem previously, especially loud when reversing to park
On an e90. Workshop told me skim the rotors.
I didnt think its a guarantee fix so i went to a site sponsor.
He told me to bed in again.. Drive till 100 and brake hard to 40. Then go on and repeat.
I tried but to no avail.
In the end changw to zimmerman rotors and ebc pads, no sound

Re: Screeching sound coming from wheel

Tried disassembling the caliper and apply grease to the pins, pads etc ? Those are the things that vibrate causing the screech.

Chamfer the pads along the way.

Bro,caliper can apply grease. Pads cannot lah. It wil affect his braking. Try the cheapest way. Change brake pads back to original first. Brake pads do wear off even if its nt "finish"....

Re: Screeching sound coming from wheel

Pads got 2 sides .... Apply on backside.

:)

Apply on backside... kinky :p

Ok end of ot! TS, try shaving the edges of the brake pads (get a workshop to do this) That's what we usual do if bed in doesn't work. If it still screeches, change to new pads :)

Re: Screeching sound coming from wheel

I just change my front rotor and brake pad yesterday, rotor was 4-5mm worn out on each surface. When every morning first move off, or after long time parking, light braking, high pitch noise appear.

Replace to Zimmerman rotor,OEM pad & sensor, all noise gone. 300 bucks solve everything.

Remember ask the mechanic to shamffer pad side abit with file for better and even bedding. Its bedding not wedding!!!!

Re: Screeching sound coming from wheel

brake pad material the problem.... aftermarket pads tend to have more metal bits so that the stopping power better giving the feeling that the brakes very jiak.

all at the expense of screeching sound.... revert to stock... no noise.... but braking power lose to aftermarket

Heard about some aftermarket pad with good braking ability will worn rotor faster than stock one? Also high temp not suitable for daily family car right?

Newton's 3rd law my friend.... for every action.... there is an equal and opposite reaction.

want more power / bhp.... FC sure drop..... but please ensure the appropriate RON petrol is pumped....
want more braking power.... wear and tear parts higher.... tires / pads / rotors....
want more sart-ki.... open wallet bigger to drive bigger more atas brand car / live in bigger house

So do i need to throw apple to my rim after change rotors and pads?

stay stock the best.... no problem....

only worry about FC

Me 15k mileage per year, so FC is not in my concern list, now reading 1L/5-6km on local drive.

Re: Screeching sound coming from wheel

i m experiencing the same problem now..my ride is a 2 months old f10, everything stock except the 20" Breyton GTS rims I changed 1 week after I collected my car in july. Went back to the rim shop and boss told me the sound is caused by the 20" rims. He also mentioned that its very common for cars with large rims to have screeching sound in the morning (during cold start). Been driving with the so called "cold start" screeching sound for 2 months, but still wondering why has the screeching sound during braking got to do with large rims?

Was that bigger rim more radial force which cause brake pad more hard to bite on rotor when cold start?

Mine is as long as you hit the brakes, there will be this screeching sound. Expecially if you half pressed your brakes
