Service Inspection 2

My ride 318i E46 FL is due for service at 75000km. Call up PML and was told that it will require the Service Inspection 2 and take 2 working days. Call one know what is the basic charges like?

if your car is still under warranty, then PML... but inspection II is going to hurt your pocket... should be close to S$1k without much replacement of parts that are not within the warranty...

if it is beyond 3 years, then i would suggest our trusty workshops in the resource folder... works and is cheaper...

My last service at PML was the Inspection II.... and it burned a 2.3k hole in my pocket! :O

wow, that's ex...is this common to all bimmer models that does their Inspection II at PML? how much would the same Inspection cost at BVO or J4C?

I just collect my car from PML for the Service Inspection 2, just after the warranty period. Mileage at 75,000km, cost bill 2.9K. Did the so called inpection 2, believe to be oil change, including brake oil, ABS oil etc. Change 4 tyres CSC2 17 inch, 2 back shock absorber change, that about all. Any comments?

normally my SA just clocked the inspection and i changed it outside.

Not sure if everyone does it at PML, but other than simple things like oil changes, coolant flushes and such, I wouldn't go anywhere without the proper diagnostic equipment and original, updated manuals with latest service bulletins. I haven't been to BVO or J4C for inspections so I can't comment on their pricing. Should be lower I guess, if the exact same work is done and exact same parts are changed. But, if you're at BVO/J4C, it's quite likely you'll be tempted to change to standard parts with all the spanking aftermarket stuff available, so you might end up spending more...

wah 2.3k!!....what did they do to the car?

what did they change?

Can't remember everything exactly, but main items included brake discs and pads, the rubber bits on the engine mounts, some radiator accessory and bits and pieces that all added up into a big bill...

Each CSC 2 (17'inch) tyres cost me $309. Shock absorber about $700 for back 2 pieces. My ride is 318i FL warranty end at June this year. The rest of the charges make up the bill to 2.9K.

Each CSC 2 (17'inch) tyres cost me $309. Shock absorber about $700 for back 2 pieces. My ride is 318i FL warranty end at June this year. The rest of the charges make up the bill to 2.9K.

that's alr $1.9k; i.e. the oil change, brake pads and what not come up to $1k. sorry, did you choose to change the shocks or it was part of the package? i suppose the tires were your choice since its not usually included?

huh?? brake pads and oil was 1k? thats about 100 bucks in parts and 900 in labour

No la....the labour is $300. The other $600 is for changing 4 tyres & 2 shocks ($100 each )

Not sure if you were addressing the above post to me - but no, I did not change my tyres as they still had good life in them.

My ride's a Z4 3.0.

I think basically one should expect big-ticket items requiring change once the car reaches Inspection II.

wow breyton, apple to apple comparison for Inspection II, then henry's seem 'cheaper' cos minus the tires his would be 1.7k and yours is 2.3k...
