Hia-dee,
today was the one since dont know when I last paid attention to the reading on svc interval number you see each time u ignite the engine.

That number was hoovering around 25k to 28k KM Not sure is it after i up-ed by tyre size from 16" to 19", this number is now reading 14,000 KM. But I ve already done 15,000 KM on my car liao.:whythis:

Need to see car doctor?

Re: Service interval reading "siao liao" ?

did u notice the service interval reading everytime u start the car?

Re: Service interval reading "siao liao" ?

yeap, it used to be ard 25,ooo KM but I just realised its reading 14,000 KM

Re: Service interval reading "siao liao" ?

If you have yet found out...I was told that mileage is countdown...meaning you have a further 15000 to go before requring servicing

Re: Service interval reading "siao liao" ?

AhBeng,

The countdown fluctuates according to your driving pattern. In other words, it's not based solely on your mileage. Seems like you've been driving pretty hard?? kekeke.

Re: Service interval reading "siao liao" ?

Oh so the readings are remaining-km before my car needs a full body check up hah? Oh ah so neh.....shucks now its reading 13,000km ...yik!!! maybe bcos of late I have been 'tracking' on NS highway....kekeke

Beng, your 19" will make you drive harder. That's why. Go to petrol kiosk more often, go to service centre more often.

No lah actually come to think my car abt 9 months old liao so out of 25k KM, I have to wait another 13k KM before I sent to PML for their world class servicing. Which means 25k KM shld work out to about 15 or 18 months per servicing based on this condition based assessment. That sounds right bcos I calculated the PML 3 yrs servicing thinggie , which apparently cost around $3 to 4k net net gives u 2 or 3 servicings nia only during yr 1st 3 yr owndership, which is crap expensive.

I shld have bot my car from PI.

as the others have said, the number flashed indicates the number of kilometres to go before your next servicing; and this i believe, is largely influenced by how high you rev your engine.

assuming you're the average joe driver whom BMW based their calculations on when recommending the 25,000km service interval, this is what should have happened:

since the counter read "25,000km to go before servicing" the last time you checked
and you have clocked another 15,000km in mileage from that day till today,

therefore your indicator should have counted down to: 25,000-15,000= 10,000km.

in reality however, your service indicator has determined that based on your driving style, you actually have another 14,000km to go.

so the conclusion: contrary to what the others have said, you actually drive like a wuss. hur hur hur

Re: Service interval reading "siao liao" ?

Going by that theory, I must be driving like a retired nun, coz my 15 mth E90 has only clocked abt 17,000 km and I still have another 23,000km on the countdown indicator.

a 15 month old car should have been serviced at least once already correct? PML's recommendation is 1 year from collection of car or when your indicator tells you to, whichever comes first.

if that is correct, they would have reset your counter back to 25,000km at the last service.

if my assumption is wrong, then perhaps you really drive like a retired nun.

Re: Service interval reading "siao liao" ?

I enquired PML abt this and they told me that my car isn't due for servicing till May 2007, which is also the date stated on my car indicator. I'll be bringing my car back to PML end of the month to determine whether servicing needs to be done.

I drive like a nun coz my wife doesnt like me to speed...

What a WUSS...quick...:furious:

only $600+?? (not that it is cheap.)
i thought inspection II already cost $900? plus oil/parts should easily hit 1k or more. that is why i decided not to go back PML for my second servicing.

Babe, what did your invoice said?
