Service Question: Upon hitting expiry of PML Warranty, still send in?

yes, Kampong Arang.

maybe i'm unlucky or the car I drive (E90) is just not worth their efforts. For anything (problems like oil leak, general service), need to make an appointment up to 2 weeks advance. My FIL just need to drive in (no appointment) to get his 7 series serviced.

So far I have only done oil change on my F10 at pml dunearn road. So can't really rate.

But I think normal to make appt before service? Unless its express service.

Lexus use to call me to schedule servicing 3 to 4 weeks in advance.

maybe different treatment for owners of different models. when you spend $3xxK and above on a car, no need appt. all others please call 2 weeks in advance.

If the above is true then there is cause for concern - there must be a service report generated for the car - if the video footage shows otherwise, you have a case...imho, this is "cheating" ie. Doing nothing but charge you for "service" rendered. How can an AD condone this sort of practice? really sucks!

the car was just parked by the side. don't think PML's mechanics are so on to crawl under the car to work on it. also the problems i raised required the car to be put up on a lift for parts to be removed.

anyway warranty over already so won't be sending car back to them anymore. 1 full day just for oil change service of which the car is just parked there for 3/4 of the time.

forgot to mention that SA had the cheek to tell me that car is in good condition and no errors whatsoever from electronics when they did not even bother to plug in the computer to check. best part is that i did my own diagnostics check before sending in the first time and there were plenty of error codes from various modules.

More importantly... what is the brand of the camera that you are using?? That is another great way to use the camera... never thought about it!

SA was very apprehensive about showing me the service report and told me nothing to see. All previous times I was able to see a service report even if it wasn't given to me. When he told me no faults with the car modules, I knew something wasn't right but just played along since he told me he's going replace something which currently is out of stock so I had to go back again.

Video footage just showed car being parked and shifted around to parts of the workshop to be parked no where near service areas or lifts for 30 hours. Car cam is set to motion detect so will record when car is started or it it detects motion. They did check on something 2 hours before I collected the car but that check definitely isn't "vehicle check" which I paid for since the car wasn't even put on a lift to check the mechanical parts.

However they did perform checks and rectify some problems I faced the second time round which I didn't have to pay. Just that I had to live with the inconvenience of having no car for a total of 2 1/2 days for both times.

I don't know if I'm just unlucky or this is a common practise by them. There's no reason why I had to book almost 2 weeks advance for vehicle checks just to have my car parked there for 1 1/2 days without work done.

Itronics itb100hd with power magic set to motion detect and 24/7 recording

Maybe they will start turning off customers car cams next time if they read this. Haha

Wow, when my previous car was under warranty, there were a lot of minor but irritating issues. PML took days to troubleshoot and they don't always solve the problem on their first few tries. The most time consuming work is "software update" that they claim will need more than a day's work. Now I wonder if they did any real work during the few days I left my car with them.

After warranty, I serviced my car with one of the sponsors here and my E60 was problem free since.

A friend of mine driving a LS460 always got his car picked up for servicing and sent back after that by Borneo Motors. I checked with my SA back then and she confirmed that only LS got such service.

I was only driving a RX450h but thinking back, it's all been factored into the selling price.

software updates can take up to a few hours which is true. this is why the car needs to be there for at least one day. but whether they do updates or not, one can only find out if the car's software versions are check before and after.

based on what i've seen, most of the time the car is just sitting there idle. when i sent in to fix oil leaks, the car was left there for 1/2 a day before a mechanic started working on it at close to 4pm. kudos to the experienced mechanic who managed to fix the problem within 1 hour plus as the part to be replaced was in a very tight spot and i've read online that people who DIY this fix took at least half a day.

PML has similar service for 7 series owners as well. BUT only for those who by full priced 7 series from them. 7 series event cars owners do not enjoy this privilege since the event cars go at a huge discount.

I think it's an arrangement by SE. C&C has it too but it's an agreed number of trips with the SE.

For Lexus, as long as its LS460, they will pick up and drop off throughout the lifespan of the car.
