side mirror cannot tilt

My side mirror cannot auto tilt anymore. Niether will the passenger side mirror tilt down when I put to reverse.

The switch located at the driver door panel is not working. Malfuntion for a week now.

Anyone experienced this and what is the problem?

Hi Tango,

If your car is still under warranty, let PML know and get them to solve it for you.

My problem was intermitten. When i put to reverse, my left side mirror tipts down at times only... When it's not working i have push the switch to the right then back to the left then it will work.

Informed PML regarding this issue and they traced to a malfunction motor in the side mirror. Got it replaced within warranty.

Had mine replaced in Dec05. CSA said this is a common problem. They change the motors for both the driver and passenger side. They changed the driver side window regulator too. Now the passenger side window is working up too.

FOC. Lucky still under warranty. Motors are cheap, from what I saw from the CSA's comp screen, it's like $150 ~ $160 each. Labour from PML, that's what's going to kill you.

How much did it cost to change the motors in the side mirrors?

Seems a common problem for beemers? Mine will tilt down when on reversed gear but when you put back to D gear, instead of going back to the original position, sometimes it tilts sky high!

During the heavy rainy days (around Haji), the mirror switch didn't work. However, it is ok now. Guess the switch or motor "caught a cold" during the rain.

my Nov05 E46 also... after i folded the wing mirror in and out, the motor worked again... thought i could get a warranty, sigh...

just curious, does the E90's have this function; i.e. left wing mirror tilts down when gear is put to reverse? the test drive cars that i drove did not seem to tilt down...

the passenger side mirror does tilt. you just need to switch the mirror selector to the driver's side and it will tilt. to switch off, just switch the selector to passenger side.

mine too...passenger side mirror cant tilt up/down.

maybe its the switch prob, try ah wee BVO.
if not, use the chance to buy the OEM M3 autofold mirrors. last i heard, ebay retails for ~$299 USD.

the passenger side mirror does tilt. you just need to switch the mirror selector to the driver's side and it will tilt. to switch off, just switch the selector to passenger side.

the E90 is really a good looking car. the more i look at my car, the greater i fall in love wif it
