Solar film validity!!

Hello all, dunno if this is the correct place to post but wanted to find out if there is an expiry date for solar films? My car has a cool n lite solar film when I got it but I am not sure if it's time to replace.

When I'm driving at night, I noticed I can't see vehicles well except their headlights. Was not used at first but gradually grew into it now but it got me thinking if it's time to replace the films..especially after hearing so much about infratint..hehe..but my car is still cool even under the sun.

Tempted to just add another coloured film though..any advice from seniors out there? :)

Re: Solar film validity!!

Bro Kevin, If I am not wrong, the warranty does not bring over to the new owner.
But I could be wrong, check with the installer.

Re: Solar film validity!!

I also have Cool n Lite on my car. IIRC it should last the lifespan of the car (assuming in Singapore context of 10 years :)). Think the warranty is 7 years or so.

Re: Solar film validity!!

I had cool & lite on my previous car.... an E90 M3 installed at MA.

but was totally impressed by infratint's top grade films on my other car... Volvo XC60...

decided to strip cool & lite barely less than 6 months after installation and paid full price for infratint....

I think its a bargain price for infratint films... they perform just as well if not better than many other 'branded' films out there at a cheaper price....

Bro Wayne!! How have you been?? When going down MA to use your vouchers? :)
I see..am driving down now to Cool n Lite and let them see if the film needs to be replaced. If it doesnt carry down to the new owner, then even better...more freedom to tear it down n replace with infratint..hehe

hi jason! thanks for your reply..i heard so much about infratint..so thats why am tempted. Am going to check with cool n lite now to see if my tint is "spoilt", if so, then i will replace it with infratint i suppose. Otherwise, may just add on the "Coloured Film" to just tint it darker. Hope that wont affect my vision at night...haha!

You should look for Kevin not kelvin...hahaha...
I just went to cool n lite to check out my films..they say it's normal cos the way e92 back window is angled, visibility is harder if tint is darker. He also advised me don't put the "coloured film" from infratint cos it might worsen the condition and that it's illegal?? Issit???

He recommended me to change all my existing films instead to a lighter one or otherwise go all out and get darker tints. This means he will take the old ones and replace it with new ones.

Zebra, you had a tint Over yours already and you got Sherman to tint over with the coloured film? Or did you get a titanium or platinum package? How's your visibility when you look through your rear mirror?

Just to add on, MF..im planning to do mine soon..just deciding when only...you should already have a film in place...do you see a "cool n lite" logo behind your back window or any other logos?

Just got my windscreen replaced today. Have to go tinting for the windscreen soon. I am waiting for more performance parts to be available before deciding to use the voucher.

Re: Solar film validity!!

Hi all, does PML provide a tint from factory for all models, if so, do they have a life span? And any idea what grade are they? 30% IR at least?

I dunno if pml provides but from what I understand, the tints should usually last but there's a 7 year warranty if you take from cool n lite.

Hope this helps!
