Someone pls advice- engine yellow lights come out

Hi all, I had been 3 bmw specialized workshop and still not sure which to go. The problem is rpm up and down and sometime too low will engine die. One say valve cover , one say oil pump. Had just changed back to original BMW spark plugs and also clean petrol throttle. The air and petrol like timing not right. Which car workshop best recommand? Pls advice asap now car will die anytime thanks

bought from dealer? should have some sort of warranty if thats the case, if not lemon law.

Consignment unit. I even sent to STA but no issue, drove one week then light up...dealer know but just recommand me to his workshop but I need pay

One place direct tell me is the valve cover $814 after GST but another workshop say we do the cheaper option first so he changed my spark plug $160, now still same so he say is oil pump $900....likely more then valve cover $814...., I just want to get someone who is more covincing rather then guess...anyone to recommand?

If it's the oil pump - did they measure the oil pressure ? What about the vanos valve timing ?

He never measure. The rpm keep up and down,so sometime too low engine die. Last time start can already, now sometime start and then die..very scary at the middle of the road

I been to Just4car but I waited 20 mins before a mechanics can even talk to me... and another 15 mins for them to plug the computer and another 20 mins to tell me that I need to put down the car but not now...6 days later..that's why I go for other workshop

Hope that when they changed the spark plugs for you, they also changed the ignition coils at the same time....

I just want someone that can confirm the fault before we replace it...
Tthe workshop should have a spare working set try it out, if they major in continental repairs.

If that does not solve the problem, then work towards more complicated, hard to reach areas of the engine bay. Valve cover/oil pump etc are slightly more complicated jobs and when they dismantle that, you would hope that it will solve your problem, otherwise it will be a waste of labour! Good luck

Not too sure whether it is the same issue. Had a message came up on the screen back in nov 2015, together with the yellow light.
"Engine Fault! Reduced Power"

Went to Site Sponsor and solved with change of Servo Motor and Electronic Shaft Sensor - Total cost S$700.

Thanks for the inform. For my car power still have, only sometime if stop and wait for traffic light will engine die. The rpm little up and down and is lower then normal..the petrol and air not smooth...
And yes I wish to find one workshop that can try with spare parts before replace it. Will go down Codewerx soon once I have the free time. These few days busy working...

Yep, happened to me before (E60 2008). Usually start of day no problem, only after driving for some time on highway, exiting and reaching the next traffic light, it happens.
You try this: At traffic light stop, try switching to Neutral. If the RPM still up and down, then Codewerx or any of the site sponsors should be able to sniff it out.
If RPM stops the up and down at Neutral, it could be the transmission

Free time is how we can manage it. A friend once advised me when I was withholding repairs: We pay so much for a premium ride, we have to ensure that it is maintained and serviced right so that we can enjoy the peak performance of the car every minute of it. The earlier we get it fixed, the more we get out of it. Otherwise why do we fork out so much in the first place.

You can try make appointment early in the morning. Ask your office for 1-2 hours time off. Drop the car at the WS first thing in the morning, explain the problem, leave the car there and catch Uber to work. They will update you regularly and advise you when to pick up if done. No worries at all (only worry later when paying...lol) No need to take a day off and sit/stand there to watch. Our site sponsors can be trusted to do a good job!
