Send in my car to pml regarding this problem they say need to reprogramme the car and maybe only will lower down the sound it is true ? They say the sound is dued to the syncronizing of the gear it is true ? Help !

Does anyone still have this issue?

Mine still does although its not everyday, probably 3-5 times a week whenever starting the car, a loud "clank" sound can be heard.

My mechanic says this is the valve body problem which has the e-gear software module inside. To eliminate this, the whole valve body needs to be changed because the construction of this part is that you cannot just change the software without tearing out the whole valve body..and its not cheap..$4k plus. According to him the "clanking" sound is the gear changing electronically on start up ready to move off but the hardware, meaning the gearbox is not fast enough to react to this software speed.

I wonder how true this is and most importantly, will this "clanking" thing affect the tranny?

mine clanking for 140k km and still clanking

Mine has this once in a while too. E60 525 LCI. Was not happy with it, especially warranty ending this month. Had PML done thoroughinspection. I think they did software reprogamming and ok now. Also sent to Khang Motors for pre-warranty inspection and Khang Motors "passed" it.

I was told software reprogramming will stop the clanking sound only temporarily. It will come back after a while..
