Here is the reply I got from their operation manager of soup spoon:


Dear Mr Ng,

Hope all is well with you. As your records shown, i do acknowledge your continual support with us at 'The Soup Spoon' and would like to thank you personally for that. I understand from the assistant manager at Raffles City branch Melanie on your request for redemption. Due to security reasons, on our side we do not permit redemption of points as it could lead to abuse and fraud. This is the reason why we encourage customers to present the loyalty card when redemption is taking place. However, in the event if a customer, like yourself is trying to earn points from the purchased made, mobile number is needed as another alternative besides the card, provided the customer have registered. I do hope you understand, if we were to permit customers to redeem using mobile phone, there will definitely be some form of discrepancies as friends, strangers or even employees of 'The Soup Spoon' could just redeem. This is why we would require redemption to be done with a card. I'm not too sure whether have you tried redeeming by just using your mobile number. I have to assure you that is not the practice we are encouraging and have informed all the stores to prevent any redemption using mobile number due to security reasons when the loyalty program was launched. We have worked with the vendor closely on this to prevent any form of redemption without the cards.

I understand your frustrations when there wasn't a proper solution being offered to you. The entire situation could have been handled in a more appropriate manner and i do apologized on the way how it was being addressed to you. Rest assured i will be having a word with the following parties involved and necessary actions will be taken.

Nevertheless, since you have registered your loyalty card with us, allow me to replace you with another card and transfer all existing points to the new card. As for the 200 points for admin charge, which we normally deduct for any transfer of points or replacement cards, I will get that waived. If you could kindly furnish me with your mailing address, i will get the marketing department to mail the new card to you for any future redemption.
The same system still applies for the replacement card.

I do hope to see your continual support with us at 'The Soup Spoon' despite your unpleasant experience with us. Will we looking forward to your reply Mr Ng, and have a great week ahead.
