Squeaky steering wheel

Morning,

I have a steering wheel that squeaks when i turn it. The mechanics can't seem to place the problem.

They say nothing is leaking, and everything is in order with the steering - well, just the noise.

Anyone else out there have this experience?

I've got the same problem when I turn my wheel to the right especially when it comes to parking.

I'm supposed to go down to R2D but haven't found the time to do so...

i am told by the workshop that this is "normal" when we do a full lock on steering wheel.

if full lock den shld be normal. but it shld not be audible to the extent that its worrying.

in his case its just regular right or left turn i reckon. din mention is full lock

Most likely cavitation caused by air in the system. I only experience it when parking the car on squeaky surfaces..no time to go fix it.

Just check my power steering fliud - full.

Damn. I hate problems like that. Damn hard to diagnose!

is it a metal-metal squeek? or plastic/rubber type... if stil under warranty, they shud resolve this for you, imho.

in dat case, if the noise seems close within the cabin, one of the ways i use is a piece of paper to slide it here n there (suspected area of squeeking) and basically trial and error.

if you slip the paper into the right spot, the squeek will stop, so u can narrow down the area, so after that you either shave off the excess (due to expansion, aging or watever reasons), correct any misalignments, or apply some plastic grease... hope you can find n stop ur squeek... it must b so irritating... all the best!

btw, u can use the above for ICE resonance (vibrations) elimination too ;-)

Hi,
I actually encountered the squeaky steering wheel sounds early in the morning. Stopped by BVO and AH wee squirted some silicone lube around the steering section. Guess that must've fixed it coz it's been over a week and no squeaks.

Went to BVO today.... they quoted me $1000 +/-... apparently some sensor in the steering wheel spoilt.... (they diagnosed this but turning the wheel around and listening to the sound).

Also went to Boss, they said nothing serious, and to look at it during the next servicing...

Hmmmm... any thoughts?

It's not the ssshhhhhh sound coming from full lock. it's a groaning squealing sound when i'm turning the wheel more during parking or turning tight corners in car park.

i have this same problem of groaning sound when turning right in carparks or tight corners. Getting more evident now. it is getting irritating. Has check it at BVO b4 and no prob on the steering fluid. Can anyone enlighten on this?
