Re: TEIN Fully adjustable coilovers

i have been waiting for this E46 specific model which supports edfc for ages... finally it's out. but i'm already on my second set of kw2.

teins are reputed to be VERY NOISY. so if one can stand the noise, then it'll be a very convenient set of coilovers to have.

I also highly suspect the high speed damping capabilities of their coilovers. high speed damping is crucial for the comfort of the ride. in this aspect kw ranks tops in my opinion. but kw is also very difficult to adjust.

but i'm very interested to try the edfc, coz my passengers all cry father cry mother my car too hard. i'll definitely get this set after my current shocks wear out.

Re: TEIN Fully adjustable coilovers

Hi Barry

Wow..u mean now they have it for Beemers ???

Just to let u know and be aware just in case, Tein already has a local distributor in S'pore and that is Garage R, u could also get em from N2C2 at Ubi or ST. If u guys have owned a Honda before u know what i mean ..Tein is good stuff !! especially for Honda's (DC5's). Most of the modded ones have them. EDFC is very convenient especially when adjusting the rear damping which is normally , very difficult due space constraint, etc, if i recall correctly it stores upto 3 settings , so u could have one for family cruising, track and spirited driving !!

Whats the price u getting on the SS by the way ?

Hi Jeremy, thanks for the headsup too.

I have spoken to Garage R regarding this matter way back. However they told me that they do not bring it in.

Anyway I will be getting it directly from Tein. Since Tein is open to traders/importers, I believe it would'nt be an issue there then.

I will however check it out with N2CS and see if they can provide a better deal for us.

So kindly hold on and wait for my good news folks!

Regards
Barry

Re: TEIN Fully adjustable coilovers

Hi,

Ok, since Garage R doesnt bring it in (guess they cater mainly for the Evo's/Sti's !!) then that would definitely benefit u. Waiting yr good news bro !

Cheers !

Re: TEIN Fully adjustable coilovers

OK thats it.

i'm selling my (dampers almost new) KW2 coilovers for $1600. If there are buyers, I'll go grab the EDFC. on bor?

Actually over 90% of what you experience day to day driving, high speed cruising, track racing, is low speed damping. High speed stuff is for the few big bumps on the highways at speed, or high speed high curbs on track (non-existent at PG or SP).

We are lucky in that for the most part SG roads are really smooth, and SP where most tracking is done is super smooth. An ideal zero-compromise setup for SP can be achieved relatively easily.

Re: TEIN Fully adjustable coilovers

Barry, since there's a bunch of performance kaki here, have you considered importing something that is rebuild friendly? I think it would be quite fun to have friends running similar shocks and trying out different valve setups, sharing notes.

Most good companies have rebuild kits, valving guides - or one step further like Ohlins, a purchasable computer program that generates very accurate damping curves for a given shim combination, based on the testing they've already done. This eliminates the need for a shock dyno till the proper racing levels where absolute accuracy is needed.

You guys could even start a side business once familiar with the product and setup. Considering that such a service is applicable to ALL performance cars, does not require expensive or large pieces of eqiupment, and is based nearly purely on knowledge and experience. Just a thought..no intention to put a damper on your sales!

From what I dug out on Tein's website, they do indeed have rebuild kits for the Tein! I have to find out more exact details though...

As for your recommendation of a computer program, I seriously doubt Tein has them.... However it would be really useful if we could have access to a software like that. Would definitely enlighten us more on the specifics and behavioural habits of the coilovers :)

Re: TEIN Fully adjustable coilovers

To be clear.. the program was for single shims and for shims in whatever combination to make up the valving of the coilover. The program doesn't reveal any characteristic. Rather, it gives you the power to define the characteristic.

Cheers :)

Ah i see.... Was amazed initially if there was indeed such a programme that monitors the shocks!

Thanks dude!
