Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

I don't see Scholes having any yaya-look like and celebrations like some self-accredited hand goalscorer.

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

got la bro. he block the ball against fulham. he smiled and walked off the pitch. dont forget the countless times where he 'mistackled' players. also give the jiao smile

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

Huh, mis-tackled and cheating same?

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

quote 'mistackled' means deliberate la. you should know scholes also super cb one. but hes also a world class player la

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

Tough is tough, rough is rough.

Essien is tough, Scholes is rough.

Some say Keane is dirty.

But a cheat is a cheat. Many gangsters, no matter how bad tempered they are, are not cheats.

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

Busquets leh? :D

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

Cheating is bad. Giggs say one.

Ok sorry OT, let's go back to soccer!

If i recall, Roy Keane said cheating is part of the game after the Henry handball incident which cost Irish WC 2010 qualification.

Personally I would take playing against/alongside a cheat over playing against/alongside a person with malicious intent any day.

Keane took it personal, mind you. It is not a malice against the world.

A personal vendetta against one man, or a team, or an organisation, doesn't make the offense any lighter.

Not that I condone the vengeance of Keane, but I think there is a difference between someone with angst/wrath against a specific player versus someone who cheats and stand firm with oblivion.

If I am a player, and one of my teammate is a "thug" with a personal agenda against another specific certain player for a long time, I would not think less of his character in the team - not as a player. As a teammate or even a captain, he could still be respectable. The analogy is like a friend/colleague who fought with his specific enemy, and only that guy alone. His personal vendetta, but not on me. So, I do not think any less of him as a player.

But if he is a cheat, I might not apply the same logic. Especially if someone cheated and blatantly hold his arm about the act. That's not personal, but a possible skewed aspect of his character. If there is no remorse, hard to believe that a cheat can change overnight, especially with so much pride about getting away.

Re: The Barclays Premiership / Champions League Thread

Aiyo. Don't like that say me leh. I play tough in nature and I only end Haaland's career because I don't like his face. At least I don't dive and whine like a pussy. :nehnehhh:

To each his own. I wouldn't respect someone who is out to harm another, neither would I respect someone who cheats and shows no remorse. But I'll take the lesser of two evils.

Picture the scene next week, Luis Suarez is bearing down on goal before he's clipped by Rio Ferdinand on the edge of the box at Old Trafford. The referee (obviously not Howard Webb) waves away the incident before Rio picks himself up, wanders over to the official and mutters: "Actually ref, it was a foul, it was just inside the area, and as I was last man, I probably deserve a red card." How likely do you think that is on a scale of one to ridiculously unlikely?
That's what some sanctimonious soccer lovers seem to think Suarez should have done after his inadvertent handball, in their eyes, poured petrol all over the romance of the FA Cup. He's no Miroslav Klose, but then few players are. His problem is that his previous, rightly in some circumstances, makes him an easy target. Remember Suarez claiming "the hand of God now belongs to me" after his save against Ghana at the World Cup? Or being booked against Southampton for trying to punch the ball into the net?

Many years later I joked negatively about Manu & a friend went frenzied
Both are very hardcore fans

Let's be realistic. No one expects any professional to own up on fouls.

But to celebrate a hand-goal with no remorse on a referee lapse is a different matter.

If Rio hacked down Suarex and went on the field laughing about it, that's not a desirable trait. So far, only Keane has expressed such malice in a personal vendetta. Even Cantona did not show such remorse-free attitude.

Would I wanna offend Keane? Perhaps not. Would I play along side him? Yes. So, as a team mate, I have no qualm. As long as that personal vendetta remains as such, I wouldn't care.

Would I feel proud playing besides a cheat like Maradona? Not so sure. I like him, but I doubt I can give him full respect.

Keane is a thug against Alf Inge Haland. No doubt about that. He admitted the personal vendetta "a revenge". Like I said, that's a personal matter between him and Haland.

"I'd waited long enough. I fucking hit him hard. The ball was there (I think). Take that you cunt. And don't ever stand over me sneering about fake injuries."

Can name another few players Keane has personal agenda against? Not quite.

Speaking of Howard Webb, he's refereeing this Sunday! :D

Howard Webb has been named as the referee for Sunday's Premier League clash between Manchester United and Liverpool at Old Trafford.

It will be the first time the Rotherham official has taken charge of one of the biggest domestic club fixtures in world football since the two contested an FA Cup tie in January 2011.

FIFA Ballon d'Or 2012 winner = Lionel Messi
~ Agree, 4th time winner, beat Zidane (3 times), Ronaldo (Brazil, 3 times), Platini (3), Cruyff (3), Van Basten (3)

FIFA Pro World 11
= Casillas, Marcelo, Pique, Ramos, Dani Alves, Xabi Alonso, Xavi, Iniesta, CR7, Messi, Falcao
~ Agree that RVP will have to sit out against the likes of Messi, CR7 and Falcao.
~ But surely, Yaya Toure > Xabi Alonso. Jordi Alba/Lahm > Marcelo. All Barca + Real/Ath Madrid? Kelong.
~ Neuer, Mata, Silva, Bale, Pirlo, Muller all deserved an honourable mention.
