What would be the best RFT, in terms of cornering grip, wet handling and comfort (pliant ride and noise), available in SG? How much for 245/40R18 size and where would be the best shop to buy?

Re: The best RFT

Not too sure bout best but last heard price for Bridgestone RE050A is @ $650.00/each. :whatthe:

Cheers~

Re: The best RFT

Ya, RFT is more expensive than normal tyre, typically about $150 more per piece. But it should last longer, may be 10-20%, because it is made from harder compound may be. More importantly, provide high speed protection and for those of us without spare wheel in the boot, peace of mind when going across the border.

Think other than RE050A, CSC3 comes in RFT too. About $500 for 245/40R18 if I recall correctly. Wish CSC5 comes in RFT but it seems not. F1 Asym 2 also no RFT. Very limited choices.

Re: The best RFT

Re: The best RFT

many female driver like runflat and their Hubby and boy friend also like runflat on her car too.
because they have no worry of FLAT tyre and wont disturb you(Hubby / Boy friend) and your journey.
not sure which tyre is the best runflat.
some people best tyre is served him with no problem.
some people best tyre is cost cheapest is Best.
I only know BMW developed runflat tyre not for nothing.

Re: The best RFT

I thought the purpose of RFT is to improve high speed safety, rather than for the convenience of not having to change wheel ourselves when encountering a puncture. And the compromises are harder, heavier and costlier tyre, with incidental benefit being less worry when travelling in unfamiliar territory.

So for those who likes to travel at autobahn speed, better to have RFT. Otherwise, normal tyres plus spare wheel or tyre repair kit or both.

For me, I travel out of town frequently and really do not want my other half to be stranded with a puncture. RFT would allow her to drive the car to a tyre shop without having to change wheel or use the tyre repair kit, both of which I do not think she would be up to.

Hence wondering which RFT would offer the best grip, handling and comfort, among the RFTs available here. So far only heard of RE050A and CSC3 have RFT versions, both around $500 a piece. Anyone know if F1 Asym 2 comes in RFT version?

Re: The best RFT

You may try PS2 ZP (RFT), should cost you around $500+.

Re: The best RFT

My stock car comes with PS2 RFT and it has served me well. One of the tyres has been patched after hitting a nail and it is still fine.

Re: The best RFT

I am using BS 245/40R18 RFT. Recently changed at $550nett.

Also recently changed battery:
PML quoted me $800!!! Told me BMW cpu very sensitive. Cannot anyhow change other battery. CPU die... all die...

I took a Varta 80A outside. Still alive.

Thanks for advice. May I know which shop would have PS2 ZP? My usual shop only has CSC3 and RE050A RFTs.

most car makers does allow owner to do the own battery replacement or jump starting, you can always refer to your car owner booklet for detail of some minor rescue operation by yourself.
If CPU became haywire simply after battery changed, we should be told before we decided to buy this car.
I would surely avoid this car (poor electrical circuit designed.):furious:
A good engine CPU should be able to relearn and manage the engine should your car battery failed(drained) and after new battery replaced.
my friend used to drive a Mit MPV and Jaguar, the car owner book stated clearly your transmission will not change gear smoothly after a new battery replaced, but it will be back to normal after driving for few kilometers.

If they said change battery out side CPU die... all die..then they die first...
