Hi all..

Just collected my Beamer E90 320i.. noticed a few problems. Do you guys have them?

1 After driving back at a cool night.. stop the car.. vapour (fog) appears at the corner of my headlamp. I guess the headlamp is not fully sealed up.

2 The electronic seat memory has to pressed on all the way. Its not like a one push.. and everything goes back to the recorded seating position.

3 I think my car doesnt have cruise control right?

Maybe you guys can advise me on that?

Cheers!

Stanley

I used to have the headlight fogging problem. But it occurred on the 1st week only. Now no more...

Re: The First Beamer Experience..

Oh! Yeah.. the headlight fog never comes again. :)

Anyway, found out that my back rear windscreen rubber seal is not properly sealed as well. heard from alot of ppl, e90 always have this problem. Perhaps you guys want to check the windshield rubber seals.

Cheerios!

hi! to all,
I am seriously considering my first BMW and I am looking at the 323. Will appreciate some advise....

a) is the 323 a worthwhile buy

b) cost of maintainence such as brakes pads etc

thanks

Hi There

Go for 325 if budget permits and if it's still available.......

Same block, better power cos the 323i is a de-tuned 2.5 block and you can't bump it up......

Maintenance is in fact (at least for me) very manageable as compared to Jap cars. But that also depends on how hard you drive the car which of course determines how fast you need oil change, pads change, etc etc.....

You may wanna check with PML what's being covered in the 3 yrs "free" servicing for E90 then make a better gauge.

Generally, my 2.5yrs (38K km Mileage ONLY!) needed only 2 official oil change at PML and 1 change of pads........

I change oil at 5000km intervals because most of my driving is city and start-stop traffic warrants more frequent change of oil IMO.

Cheers!

Re: The First Beamer Experience..

Errrh...it should be "Beemer" and not "Beamer". Beamer are those cars that high beam everyone..:)

As for my car (E46 318i), In the mornings, I usually like warm-up for 1 min then drive very easy until to normal level which is at half mark before I ramped my car.

Not sure how you guys gauge without a temp gauge? Especially as IS200 said, how to tell if your car is overheat? Please check with PML :)

Any brother driving E90 has overheat problem before? May be can share with the rest :)

Yeah I also do warm up the car before driving off to work, but sometimes if too rushed, just drive off lor...

I think in the event of overheating a warning sensor will beep, just like when we are not wearing the seatbelt. One problem is that everything has been 'sensor-ized' so that's why the new Beemers nowadays got so much problem (imagine if one cable gets loose or the CPU goes haywire...)

Re: The First Beamer Experience..

I think for Beemers, there is no real need to warm up the car before u drive off unless u are like my neighbour who needs to put on her make-up. U can juz drive off and not gun the engine until the temp has gone up to normal which happens after I have driven 1km.

Re: The First Beamer Experience..

thanks!

agree with you regarding the de-tune engine block as it will not make sense if there is an intention to mod it....but alas the 325 is too expensive at this point in time....but again the 320 is a tad under powered(in my opinion)...maybe i should look at the Lexus IS250 as an alternative...

Re: The First Beamer Experience..

someone mentioned abt the engine oil dip needle thing and temperature guage. I think all these are deliberately excluded bcos the E90 [I was told but hasnt read up everythg in the handbook/manual] will warn u if any of these thgs fail, just like if u drive with the freaking handbrake on, it will sound off similar to if yr safety belt is off....tong tong tong tong :)

Buy BMW lah.....I am a BMW salesman. U buy one, then we go for drag race :)

Hi brother joogie..can the rear windscreen, there is a round tubing around the windscreen. In most 320, the rubber seal are not well sealed. You can pull it down easily which means over time, water seeped in.

Btw, E90 is such a nice car.. after driving for 3 weeks.. the consumption improves. and I can travel 320Km on a half tank mark. I think this is cool for a continental. (I am light foot driver).

anyway, they say about opening valves of engine, when is the best time to jam the accelerator? My mileage is 1600 km now.

Cheers! Stan
