what is "let go" ? :(

It means when you exceed the grip limit of the tyres, they will lose grip. Your car will start sliding around.

With some tyres, the breakaway is sudden and violent. With others, it is progressive and predictable.

Re: ~time to change tires~ recommendations pls :)

Adam, where u lose grip? Sepang corners?

My tires always slide in puddles during rainy days here...yrs got?

No lah, don't use my 19"s at Sepang. Singapore corners can lose grip liao, especially now with my ASC/ABS module konked out... No traction control + no ABS = easy to slide around.

Re: ~time to change tires~ recommendations pls :)

icic...gonna repair?
is the car faster with ASC deactivated?

Re: ~time to change tires~ recommendations pls :)

yeah felt the same way too...DSC off seems better...

Re: ~time to change tires~ recommendations pls :)

using PS2, mine made in brazil. seems ok ley. compared with AD07, PS2 are much better. quiet and yet more grippy than ad07 in the wet. Dry AD07 still leads by a bit, but PS2 more progressive when they let go.

Hi Triple M,

I'm keen to know why you say the F1s are over-rated? Kindly share your thoughts.

Cheers,
B

That is the feedback I got from direct users.
Also by looking at the tread patterns, these tires only excel in wet road conditions, nothing else.

and fyg, the sportmaxx is slightly more expensive only than the f1 gs-d3.....so sportmaxx all the way:)

Re: ~time to change tires~ recommendations pls :)

TripleM

Agree with you on the F1. totally overrated.

btw, how much is 225/45R17 for the SportMaxx?

Re: ~time to change tires~ recommendations pls :)

not exactly sure
but some guys paid ard 270-280 bux for the 225/40/18 so as i said, probably taking off another 20 bux sounds about right

it feels better cause of the fact the DSC does not cut in YET, it gives u more time to play.. but it'll still come into the pic sooner or later, unless u switch both DSC and TC off... then.. err.. haha..

car is not faster, just let's u have more leeway for ur tires to slip,if u take a corner fast and hard on purpose.

when u mean my slide as in left to right when u hit the puddles?? aquaplane?... cause if it goes left to right... u might actually want to check ur alignment... it's normal for it to go left right but not by alot.....

Hi TripleM,

Thanks for your feedback. I just recently changed to F1s and I will post my comments after a couple more weeks of driving.

Will check out Sportmaxx the next time I change. But there's another high range tire by Dunlop called Direzza. Anyone used this b4?

Cheers,
B

Re: ~time to change tires~ recommendations pls :)

it's the miles travelled that warrants for feedback, not the time frame...

Direzza is a notch below SPMaxx in Dunlop High Performance Category.

Feedback from what I read in Torque magazine says it's quite decent tire.

225/45ZR17 Dunlop SportMaxx is below S$200 a piece. Call any of the usual links in the resources page. Got mine last month, a 2006 week 30 tire, made in Japan.

Very happy.
