'Gangnam Style' dance-off turns into shootout in Bangkok
(KOREA HERALD/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - A light-hearted dance battle between rival gangs in Thailand took a nasty turn when the situation escalated into an actual shootout, the local press reported on Sunday.
The two gangs were dining at the same restaurant in Bangkok on Friday when their teenage members started to challenge each other by performing the 'horse-riding' dance from the hit music video by Korean singer Psy, Gangnam Style. The dance contest soon turned into a heated argument and one of the gang members left the eatery, only to return moments later with more members.
"Four people from the group returned at 6am and fired several shots into the sky. I tried to mediate, and they agreed to leave," the teenager told the Bangkok Post. "Three of them later returned about 8am, and they sprayed bullets in all directions, like in action movies. I and other people there were running for our lives."
Local authorities said nobody was harmed even though some 50 shots were fired at the scene. Bangkok police said they have identified the attackers and will seek arrest warrants for them.
