My dental specialist at Wheellock quoted me about $1600 to $1800 for one single tooth root-canal.

Is this price fair?

Re: Tooth Root-Canal Treatment: $ ???

I assume it's a molar tooth. Specialist price will vary based on the practice. its usually between 900-2000. You may also do it at a non-specialist that will range between 600-900.

But the root canal needs to be followed up with crown. so thats additional cost.

cheers

Re: Tooth Root-Canal Treatment: $ ???

You'll need to do it at a specialist if it's the last 2-3 molars. A GP can't and will not wanna do it becos it may get complicated as the canals may get tricky. Be wary of GPs that say they can do it for you. I have friends who have their last two mloars done by a GP but ran into complications some time down the road. Just pay that little bit more for the peace of mind.

Actually I have seen failures by specialist as well as generalist. Usually alot of factors come into play such as the nature of the infection and time taken before seeking treatment, Patient's Medical history etc.

If the case is complex or the GP is not comfortable doing molar endo than they may refer to the specilaist.

cheers.

Re: Tooth Root-Canal Treatment: $ ???

Many doctors reconmend titanium tooth transplant rather than crown nowadays... Its stronger...

Re: Tooth Root-Canal Treatment: $ ???

This Price is reasonable for specialist.
Presumely they're using ceramic . If u want
A more economically dentist ( strongly not recommended)
Can try neighborhood Q&M. But it's brutally painful
Experience as I was told by my reservist mate.
I did mine at GPA, painless experience , even wisdom
Surgery.

Implants are done to replace missing tooth, while Root canal is done to save the tooth from extraction.

Re: Tooth Root-Canal Treatment: $ ???

Right term..implants....my doctor at Orchard told me implants is better alternative than crown for big molar..sheer bitting strength...

I believe the price quoted is just for the RCT, the crowning would be additional.

An implant is covered by a crown. the impant is the portion that placed in the bone. So you are effectively still biting on your crown supported by an implant instead of your natural tooth.

Yes. There's no gurantee for success even from a specialist but the rate for one is generally higher as compared to a GP. No specialist would gurantee success. I was told by my specialist that the success would be increased after the second or thirs year (can't remember exactly now).

I did a total of four root canal surgery and crowning over a period of two years. I kept going back to the same specialist cos he's good. The procedure was totally painless (only my wallet felt the pain after four procedures). He was formerly the head of the national dental centre at NUH and he was treating all our ministers and presidents. Considering his reputation and experience, I personally find his charges reasonable.

Will a person with titanium implant trigger the alarm when he/she walks through the security scanner in airport?

Don't forget to budget in a crown. It can cost from about $700 up depending on the type of material used.

Re: Tooth Root-Canal Treatment: $ ???

Do implant better la... More lasting than crowning + implants can use Medisave for co-payment...
