Re: Toyo Proxes R1R

If you mean Toyo Proxes T1R...give it a miss. I've used it twice and its undoubtedly the worst tyre i've ever used. Soft sidewalls, not very good grip. I traded the last set in after 2,000km for Michelin Pilot Sport 2's and i wont use anything else now.

Re: Toyo Proxes R1R

R1R is a different ballgame all together... semi slicks with a diff compound... have not used it personally but trackies from abroad swears by it... me 2 cents

no, not T1R, this tyre I know well. I like it for the lack of grip and gradual slippage and comfort level. Now I'm talking about R1R. I dunno whether it can resist aquaplane and how it grip in the wet, coz in the dry it's a grip monster.

Re: Toyo Proxes R1R

How about A048s? Tried the A048s before and it really has a very progressive feel in the dry and damp, but not on standing water. Ride-wise it is horrid and rattles just about anything in the interior.

Re: Toyo Proxes R1R

don't know much about the A048s but after your testimony I think I'll give it a pass. Casually searching for tyres now awaiting my new rims ... 235/40-18 front and 265/40-18 rears.

Re: Toyo Proxes R1R

wot rims u got in the end?

I m under the impression that Toyo semi slick tires hv all been or gradually phased out and replaced with just R888.......so R1R, RA1 all goners...

Pay a bit more and get the Potenza RE55 SR2 compound for our weather..much better.

Re: Toyo Proxes R1R

rims ... hopefully ... will be the Champion/RAC Monolites RS98 18" custom size version. CAD drawings coming now. 18x9 front 18x10 rear, to fit 235/40-18 and 265/40-18, US$3000 thereabouts, shipping from Japan. Most probably will take PS2 then...
