Re: Track tires - Toyo R888

Pak, looking for tracking tire for your new matachia to come har?

Re: Track tires - Toyo R888

new matachia comes in semi slicks tires already

Re: Track tires - Toyo R888

Can attest to these tyres.. :D wet grip is surprisingly good. And it lasted me 35k mileage... granted, I only went to 1 TD with them, somemore a wet one, hah.

Re: Track tires - Toyo R888

Best bang for e buck semi's for track IMHO. Make sure u get the medium compound. Now me having hard time during last TD trying to get used to AO48's , very diff feel ! I dun like it.

Re: Track tires - Toyo R888

any guesses on how much they'll cost for 225/40/18 when out in 4Qtr 07?

Re: Track tires - Toyo R888

Mine was around $370/pc for 245/40 R18 fyi...

Re: Track tires - Toyo R888

thanks axl...225/40 not out yet...think should be dec/jan to get to sgp.

what do you guys think for normal daily use...if not tracking..? overkill or still purposeful...

Contrary to popular belief, R compound tires are actually grippier than regular street tires on damp road surface by bout 15pct due to the compound (this is claimed by by Michelin on their MPSC , iirc ) .. The only danger is only when u see are going thru standing water.

35k mileage is amazing.

A048 u get locally is all Medium Hard. If u try the Medium one ( available at Garage R, PI tires btw) then u will love em.

I find MH is really too hard and takes bloody long time to get the tempt up..

This toyo R888 compound is probably quite similar to the Medium version of A048.
and cost probably about the same if not slightly cheaper.

Re: Track tires - Toyo R888

Thanks for the info Jack! Dint know that... :)

Anyway, this is how 35k on a semi-slick looks like. Wanted to get RT615, but no stock on a Sun, and I dint want to risk it bursting when travelling, so went for AD07 again.

That's the FR tyre fyi.

Re: Track tires - Toyo R888

Axl, u drive till like dat, so disgusting..
25k max is probably wot u shud aim.
RT615 is pretty good too, had it on my Spec C b4.

Re: Track tires - Toyo R888

WTF kind of a ricer are you Axl? Trying to give your car a touring car look with all that camber and then rolling around (or worse still, launching) on the streets in a straight line on semi slicks and wearing out the insides like that.

Severely disappointed. :errrrrrr:

Re: Track tires - Toyo R888

his car hops too
