The in-vehicle information and communication systems should be designed such that it would not adversely affect the safe operation of the vehicle. It should not unduly distract the driver nor give rise to potentially dangerous driving. For example, the text information should be sufficiently large to enable the driver to read all the information on the screen at a glance. It should be brief and concise such that the driver can assimilate it at a glance without affecting operation. Such system should also have a voice guidance feature incorporated to minimise interaction with the visual display unit. The system shall not interfere with existing vehicle controls or instrumentation in any way. The electrical system shall be adequately protected against fire hazards.

The addition of in-vehicle information and communication systems must be carried out by qualified personnel in accordance with the system manufacturer's recommendations.
