Turning Off Aircon bad?

Recently enjoy driving with windows down and air-con off ocassionally, is it bad for the Air-con comparing turning it on "forever"?

Driving E36, sorry for this weird question.

don't see how it can be bad for the car... probably good for your pocket as you get better FC. anyway, i thought most bmws are are built for 4 seasons and i reckon most ppl won't switch on the a/c during winter?

Haha... old car, just afraid on and off and on makes it work harder and old parts break like an old man.. lol

why would it be bad?

maybe the only thing not to do is to turn on/off the aircon when you are on high revs. that's about the only thing i can think off.
